Mr Devine took up the Headteacher post in January 1960, succeeding Mr Kerrigan. At that time the school was 'all age' and had 250 pupils.
When he was appointed, Mr Devine lived in Church Rd, the next road along from Aviemore Road. His walk to work would have been about 3 minutes! According to the electoral roll, he was still living there in the 1970s, long after leaving the school.
The roll was falling, and the school became a Primary School only in the early 1960s.
Mr Devine was succeeded by Eric Smith.
