Michael Horan

Rev Michael Horan, born in Rathmore, Co Kerry on 29th April, 1904

Father Horan was educated at St Brendan’s, Killarney and St Peter's, Wexford. He was ordained 10^th June 1929,

Curate St Patrick’s Liverpool to 1930, curate to St Teresa Norris Green to 1933, curate St Michael Liverpool to 1943. He is listed there, at the presbytery on Horne Street, in the 1939 Directory. This was a large parish with at least three other priests (Parish Priest James Norris, curates Henry McCaffrie and Michael Hopkins) and two servants (Mary Higgins and Winefride Glover, both in their late 40s / early 50s). From there he moved to become a curate at St Joan of Arc Bootle to 1947

From 1947, he was Parish Priest at St Cuthbert's. On the right is a photograph of him with the victorious 1949 baseball team!

From St Cuthbert's he moved to St Matthew, Clubmoor where he remained as Parish Priest until his death on 24^th February 1979.
