Dennis was appointed to the headship of St Sebastian's in 1983. He is actually a US citized, having been born in Long Island. He is known across the city for his commitment to excellence. A keen sports fan, Dennis has made sure that the pupils of St Cuthbert's have opportunities to engage in all the sports Liverpool has to offer. He himself is a keen Everton fan,
Dennis was interviewed by the Echo in September 2011. Here is what he said:
STAYING back after class today is Dennis Hardiman, executive headteacher at St Cuthbert’s Primary School in Old Swan.
Name: Dennis Hardiman.
Title: Executive headteacher.
Years in post: I’ve been a headteacher for 28 years and in post here for five years.
Three key aims for 2011: Use the Olympics to inspire health and well-being; maintain high standards through an exciting and creative curriculum; use teaching to support different pupils’ learning styles.
Leadership style in three words: Aspirational, collaborative, passionate.
Worst thing you did as a pupil: Taped drawing pins on to the teacher’s seat.
Best thing: Surprised everyone including myself by passing my A-levels despite being dyslexic.

Hobbies: Watching Everton and all high quality sporting events. Reading when I get time.
