Augustine Kerrigan was born in Liverpool on 05 Apr 1913, son of Edward Kerrigan and Mary Anne (nee Mitchell). He was baptised at St Joseph's. He attended Alsop High School, and visited Spain on a school trip in 1930. The teachers travelled 2nd Class, the students 3rd Class!
Augustine Kerrigan was appointed to St Cuthbert's as a young teacher in 1935.
In 1939, he and colleagues Michael Joseph O'Brien (born 19 Jun 1912 ) and Thomas Gerard Logan (born 08 Oct 1916) accompanied some of the children who were evacuated to Conway, Caernarvonshire, North Wales.
In 1940, he married Norah Seddon.
In January 1957, Mr Kerrigan became headteacher after Mrs McNally's retirement; he left St Cuthbert's to take up the headship at St Margaret Mary's, Huyton. He lived in Rimmer Avenue, Huyton.
He died in July 1972, in Devon.
