Tony Morris was appointed on a Scale 2 in April 1880; he took up the duties of headteacher with effect from 1st September, 1982, taking over from Mr Smith.
There were a number of challenges - the playground, for example, continued to be a thorn in the side of the school and its pupils! On 5th March, 1984 the log book states that 'because of the deterioration in the surface of the school playground it has been necessary to place a quarter of the area out of bounds'. The school budget continued to be problematic, as the school roll was falling. Mr Morris and the staff attended a meeting at Our Lady of Fatima to discuss the City Council's budget proposals.
In January 1987, the school flooded after a thaw, affecting the electricity supply and the heating' Children had an unscheduled day's holiday!
He was a very keen Liverpool fan!
