The Addy Homestead

About 1902 Albert built a home on the property.  Mary and the children took a train from Wisconsin to Spokane to join him in Addy in March, 1903. According to the 1910 census the home was occupied by Albert, Marie, Paul, Rosa and Lewis (Louis).  In 1908 Albert was granted Homestead Certificate number 9138 dated October 22.  It was "Lots three and four and the east half of the southwest quarter of section thirty-one in Township thirty-four north of Range thirty-nine east of the Williamette Meridian, Washington containing one-hundred sixty-two and seventy-two-hundredths acres".

Below is the certificate, a Township map and a physical map showing the property.

On June 7, 1912 the home burned and was a total loss.  The sons built a new home for their Mother, Mary, and the children still living at home.  The Staeheli's operated a dairy in Addy and later in Colville.
