Crested Helm Display & Tourney
NOTE - All competitors in the Crested-Helm Tournament *must* show proof of event registration prior to signing up for the Crested Helm Tournament.
The Crested Helm Display
The helms of all competitors in the Crested Helm Tournament, complete with crest, must be placed on the display table located in front of the Royal Pavilion, inside the lyst eric by the beginning of the Crested Helm Judging.
Only helms that will be worn for combat in the tournament may be entered into the Crested Helm Display.
Each combatant may enter one (1) helm with one (1) crest.
Each consort, and the members of the Ladies Gallery, will be provided with a ribbon rosette which they will pin onto their favorite crest.
Each rosette acts as one (1) vote.
The helm which receives the most votes will be declared the Populace Choice.
At their discretion, the Queen, the Baroness of An Crosaire, and/or other Ladies of Rank in attendance may also offer an additional prize for their favorite crest.
The Heraldic Display Competition
Each combatant and their consort are strongly encouraged to set up a personal pavilion at the lyst eric. (Please contact the Marshal in Charge to reserve space!)
They are strongly encouraged to decorate their pavilion with their heraldry, colors, and other adornments.
They are strongly encouraged to dress in their best heraldic clothing, as appropriate to their personas and period.
They are strongly encouraged to provide hospitality within their pavilions according to their means.
The Queen, Baroness of An Crosaire, Consorts, Ladies of the Gallery, and other Ladies of Note shall select the combatant and consort who they feel created the Best Heraldic Presence at the lyst field.
The Crested Helm Tournament
Each combatant *MUST* have a consort present at the tournament.
Each combatant and/or Consort is strongly encouraged to contribute at least one prize to the St. George's Crested Helm Tournament Prize Table. Go here for more information.
The Crested Helm Tournament will begin with a formal procession. Each combatant will be led onto the lyst field by their consort and presented to the Crown, Nobles of An Crosaire, and Ladies Gallery. The combatants will be led on cores or chains, which symbolize the devotion of the fighter to their consort.
Prior to each combatant's first bout, the Justiciar and Lyst Marshal shall test their crest for fitness. The crest must present a substantial target for their opponents. The crest must also be attached in such a manner that it can be removed with a single "killing" blow. Test blows will be administered.
The tournament style will be chosen by the Justiciar and Lyst Marshal dependent upon the number of participating combatants. Possible tournament styles include Single or Double Elimination or Round Robin.
Each bout is won by a single "killing" blow which removes the opponent's crest. Simultaneous "killing" blows will be refought.
Because this is an unusual style of tournament, and understanding that our combatants are not used to fighting while wearing crests, each combatant will receive amnesty from accidentally removing their own crest twice. The third accidental "de-cresting" will be considered a loss.
