Standard Bocce Rules:
Bocce is played with sets of eight (8) large balls, called "bocce" and one (1) smaller target ball, called a "pallino".
The object of the game is to get your bocce as close as possible to the pallino without touching it.
Each team gets four balls which are divided among the team members (one ball for each team member).
A coin toss determines which team plays first.
To start the game, a player from the starting team stands behind the foul line and tosses the pallino, which should come to a stop at least ten feet (10') away from the foul line. The same person who tossed the pallino then tosses their bocce, trying to get their bocce to land as close as possible to the pallino without touching it.
The game is played in "Frames". Play continues through as many Frames as needed until one team reaches a score of 16 points.
The first player from Team Two then throws their bocce, trying to get closer than the first player.
*IF* the ball from Team Two lands closer to the pallino than the ball from Team One, then it is Team One's turn again.
*IF* the ball from Team Two does not come closer, they continue to throw until they either get a ball closer to the pallino or they run out of balls.
Team One then has the opportunity to toss the remainder of their balls. Remember - you can also toss your bocce to knock your opponent's bocce away from the pallino.
The teams continue to alternate tossing their bocce until all eight (8) bocce have been thrown.
The team with the closest ball gets one point for each of its balls that are closer to the pallino then the other team's closest ball. Points will be tracked by player.
*IF* the two teams' closest bocce are an equal distance from the pallino, no points are awarded.
The Frame ends after all eight (8) balls have been thrown and points have been awarded.
The scoring team begins the next frame. If no team scored, the team that threw the pallino last begins the next frame.
