Buttons, Buttonholes, and Eyelets, oh my! by Lady Meadb O’Connell

Ever wondered how buttons were made for people who couldn’t replace metal ones? Ever wonder how to get that nice eyelet done, or buttonhole sewn so it doesn’t unravel the fabric? These may look like a lot of work, or very intricate. And while they can be as elaborate as you want them to be, they all stem from the same basic stitches used. In this class, we will go over the making of cloth buttons, making buttonholes, and hand sewn eyelets, as well as attaching the buttons to go through the buttonholes. Limit 6 participants

10:00 AM – 5:00 PM on the Basketball Court

A Drop-In Class with Mistress Alexis MacAlister doing informal teaching as a drop in of Bottlecap Pincushions

Mistress Alexis will have felt, fiberfill, embroidery floss, and, of course, bottlecaps to create pincushions for the people of Trimaris to give away next year at Gulf Wars. What is this, you ask? Let us explain! No, there is too much… Let us sum up. We’re making pincushions to give away to people next year at Gulf Wars to show the kindness, generosity, and downright wonderful qualities of the People of Trimaris to the rest of the Known World. If pincushions are not your thing, then perhaps some other small gift of kindness. This is not designed to be a big expense for anyone, but a demonstration of the wonderful kindness that the People of Trimaris exhibit on a daily basis.
