The Baston Course Tournament
The Baston Course Tournament is a fund-raiser tournament where teams of "Fighter" and "Horse" attempt to "joust" with each other over a barrier.
Members of the populace may bid on their favorite teams for the right of choosing prizes off the prize table.
Each Fighter entering the Baston Course Tournament is strongly encouraged to contribute at least one prize to the St. George's Baston Course Tournament Prize Table. Go here for more information.
The Rules of this Tournament are similar to the Crested Helm Tournament in that the "Fighters" must wear their crests and will attempt to strike the crest off their opponent.
Each bout will consist of :
Three (3) passes at the barrier - Each Fighter will carry a spear in one hand while "controlling their Horse" with the other. While moving at a "trot" (or a quick walk!) the fighters will attempt to target and remove their opponent's crest with the spear.
If no "killing blow" can be struck during the three jousting passes, they will proceed to fight across the barrier. As before, the Fighter will carry the weapon of their choice (subject to Marshal approval) in one hand while "controlling their Horse" with the other hand. They will fight over the barrier until a "killing blow" has been landed.
"Horses" do not wear crests on their helms and need not have participated in the Crested Helm Tournament in order to participate as a "Horse" but they must be fully armored and inspected for chivalric combat. Horses will select and carry a hobby horse head in both hands ("Horses" must wear gauntlets!) to represent the head of the horse. Horses may buck, balk, fight each other, and generally misbehave to add to the fun of the tournament. "Horses" may NOT strike any blows against the Fighters.
