Just like how every person is different, not every Pokémon is the same or regarded the same. Ever since people became Altermews, and are essentially "Pokémon" themselves through their individual Altermewtations, a sense of kinship and camaraderie has developed between Altermews and some breeds of Pokémon.
Some Pokémon are more intelligent, reliable, and/or trustworthy than others, and these are known as Companions, while others are considered to be nothing more than Livestock and sources of food or materials. Since Groudon's Defeat, different types of Companions have been bred and developed in the Sunswept Wastes. Some Pokémon have been domesticated to bear a person's weight to carry them across vast distances as Mounts, others help their owners do their work as Draft Companions.
Then, there are Loyal Companions that may defend their owners with their lives. If a Solaran is daring enough, they can try and Tame a Wild Pokémon in hopes of making them into a Companion... but then they run the risk of failure and Injury. These Wild Pokémon may then be trained to become Loyal or Mount Companions because their inherent wild nature is too dangerous to leave unattended to become a Draft Companion.
Here is where we learn more about them!
Note Depictions of Pokémon must be recognizable - regardless of personal art style!
Mount Companions
These are the Pokémon that Characters use as transportation. How much weight a Mount can carry, depends on the Mount. Characters may purchase a Mount from the Desert Bloom Ranch or Tame them from the wilds. Mounts can only be ridden by their owner. Mounts cannot fight wild Pokémon as well. Common Solarans can own 1 Mount, while Adventure Guilders can own up to 3 Mounts.
Draft Companions
Pokémon that are trained specifically to help out with an Character's work, property, ranch, or farm are known as Drafts. They can also be used to transport large amounts of weight and goods. Altermews may purchase a Draft from the Desert Bloom Ranch. Drafts cannot fight wild Pokémon as well.
Loyal Companions
Pokémon that are owned for a number of reason, such as a pet. Either way, they are loyal to their Owner and some Owners may use these Companions in battle, but run the risk of the Owner becoming injured. The only way for an Character to acquire a Loyal Companion is to Tame them in the wild.
Note What to change a Companion's type? Then head on over to The Loyal Steed and talk to the Pokémon Trainer!
Congratulations! You have successfully Purchased or Tamed a Pokémon and now you have brought it to your Property.
Now what?
Well... that's up to you!
Of course, with a Loyal Companion you can go and battle other Wild Pokémon and now have a higher chance of being successful at Taming them. In addition, owning a Loyal Companion increases your odds against a rampaging Berserker. In fact, a Solaran can battle with up to 6 Loyal Companions at a time, just like the Pokémon Trainers of the Bygone Age! Anymore Pokémon would be disasters and uncontrollable, so 6 is good enough to at least make sure that a Solaran doesn't get too hurt... hopefully.
Speaking of potential disasters, now you have a Pokémon running around your Property, and with that comes potential Damages, regardless of the size of your House! Pokémon know Moves, after all, and they can be rascals sometimes, especially when they play, so keep that in mind if you plan on trying to Tame another!
Note Damage to a House is randomized on a monthly basis UNLESS a Solaran Tames a new Loyal Companion, then Damage would occur after the Loyal Companion is brought home (aka after the success of the Taming)
0-3 Loyal Companions = 0% Damage
4-6 Loyal Companions = 20% Extra Damage
7-9 Loyal Companions = 45% Extra Damage
10-12 Loyal Companions = 60% Extra Damage
13-15 Loyal Companions = 79% Extra Damage
16-18 Loyal Companions = 94% Extra Damage
19+ Loyal Companions = Congratulations, your House has been destroyed and must be Rebuilt
Note House damage can be reduced if you own a Pokemon House, which can be commissioned by the Architectrual Guild. These houses are specially built to house Pokémon(but your companions are free to go into your house if you want). House damage reduction depends on the type of Pokémon House you own, and the houses themselves can be renovated like your house.
Tiny Pokémon House = reduces Damage to the House by 20% - 30 coins
Small Pokémon House = reduces Damage to the House by 45% - 60 coins
Medium Pokémon House = reduces Damage to the House by 60% - 100 coins
Large Pokémon House = reduces Damage to the House by 79% - 150 coins
Deluxe Pokémon House = reduces Damage to the House by 94% - 175 coins
Premium Pokémon House = your House will never be damaged if you own up to 20 Pokémon - 200 coins
Note ✦ Pokemon House Renovations do NOT have to be done in order, but their requirements DO stack!
Ex) If a Solaran has a Tiny Pokemon House, but wants to renovate it to a Premium Pokemon House, they would need ALL of the requirements in between!
This means: you spend 685 coins!
KEEP IN MIND : If a Discount is being applied to a Pokemon House Renovation, it is one Discount Submission per Renovation. So if 2+ Pokemon House Renovations are being purchased, then multiple discount submissions must be submitted per Renovation Level.
✦ Example: Mubdray -> Mudsdale
✦ 5 Submissions Total minimum
✦ Example: Chikorita -> Bayleef -> Meganium
✦ You must depict each stage of a two evolution pokemon 3 times before evolving it but with a Total of 10 submissions
EX: 3 x First Evo, 7 x Second Evo OR 5x First Evo, 5x Second Evo
Note Depictions of Pokémon must be recognizable - regardless of personal art style!
Note Comics only equate 1 Companion Interaction per Companion
Any interaction between an Altermew and their Companion can be considered "training".
To evolve a Companion (Mount, Loyal or Draft) you simply need to create the necessary number of Submissions that depict your character interacting/utilizing their Companion. This could be your Altermew playing with their young Companion, training them to work, or feeding, grooming, or mucking our your Companion's manure! Have fun and be as creative as you want!
