Chapter 8 - The Day After

Day 5.

04:30 am

Huo Changzhi helped Xu Chu into the elevator. Xu Chu's face was still very pale. He was immersed in Huo Jiu'an's video and did not regain his senses. Huo Changzhi's mood was also very complicated.

Before they reached the first floor, they heard a police car whistle.

Xu Chu noticed the approaching voice, raised his head and asked Huo Changzhi, "The big man, wouldn't he be looking for you?"

Huo Changzhi said he didn't know.

The elevator door opened, and he helped Xu Chu out. There was no air conditioner on the ground floor, the small window of the security room was tightly closed, and there was only a dim light on the entire ground floor.

Moisture was oncoming, and Xu Chu heard the sound of the wind caught in the siren.

"It's still raining?" Xu Chu smelled the wet smell of typhoon weather. The humidity was mixed with the heat of August. There was no air conditioner, but he was indoors but had a pure outdoor atmosphere.

He couldn't see it, but his heart was drawn to his throat, thumping, and even his fingers seemed to be caught in the fresh and flowing air that was different from the past.

Huo Changzhi took him to the door, pushed open the door, and the sticky wind blew onto Xu Chu's body, tucked in the misty rain.

"Stop." Huo Changzhi looked at the distance, behind the gray rain clouds in the eastern sky, there was a faint golden-white light, as if the sun was about to come out.

The siren sounded closer and closer, and finally turned around from the intersection. Several cars stopped at the entrance of the Haichang Building. The police and several assistants of Huo Changzhi all ran down. They unexpectedly saw the missing person standing downstairs, in a consistent manner. Looking at them with expressions, holding a young man in his hand.

His special assistant rushed forward first, and the big man over 1.8 meters almost burst into tears: "Mr. Huo..."

Huo Changzhi nodded slightly to him.

The special assistant took a deep breath, and reported the situation to him like a cannonball. He took out a pile of documents from his bag and handed it to Huo Changzhi: "The weather is too hot, Mr. Huo took the lead, cremated elder Mr. Huo's body, and the ashes temporarily put in the hotel where Mr. Huo is staying. The first document is from the third phase of Project No. 2 this year..."

"Liang Lin," Huo Changzhi stretched out his hand to hold the document and interrupted him, "Where is Huo Jiu'an's cornea?"

Special assistant Liang was stunned for a while, and said, "Oh, that, although he signed the targeted donation, but because he could not contact Mr. Xu whom he designated, the preservation time of the cornea was too short, and Mr. Huo was in charge. He said it was a pity, so he would donate it to other people who are waiting for corneal transplants."

Huo Changzhi felt that Xu Chu's hand that was holding him loosened, and then he clenched him again.

"However," said Special Assistant Liang, "I found out through some channels that Mr. Xu, whom he designated, was already waiting in line for corneal donation, and he was soon in line."

Huo Changzhi nodded and pulled Xu Chu to get in the car.

"Mr. Huo... the documents..." Assistant Liang watched in shock as Huo Changzhi opened the documents in his hand. He thought when he had found Huo Changzhi, the first thing he did will not be to finish the work that was waiting for his decision and signature. Unexpectedly, the boss's temperament changed greatly, and he took the young man and left.

Walking outside, a drop of water dripped on Xu Chu's face.

He stood still, spread his hands, and a few drops of cold rain fell on his face and palms. Xu Chu turned his head and said to Huo Changzhi, "It's raining."

Huo Changzhi was opening the car door for him and asked him to sit, Xu Chu was reluctant. He said, "It's so nice outside." Huo Changzhi listened to Xu Chu's words, stood beside him, and guarded him for a while, until the rain really started to hit the roof of the car, and Xu Chu reached out and groped for Huo Changzhi, Huo Changzhi then took him into the car.

"Didn't some people say that the rain is about to stop?" Xu Chu sat on the seat, the car was full of air-conditioning, he was overwhelmed by sleep, thinking that he was full of energy and could run a full marathon.

Should go to the police station first, Huo Changzhi asked his assistant to communicate and told the driver to drive to the hospital, because Xu Chu was hot all over.

"It's about to stop," Huo Changzhi said, "the sun has come out."

At five o'clock in the morning, at sunrise, the rain was shining brightly by the sun, and the world turned white.

"I can't see," Xu Chu didn't believe, "I only heard the sound of rain."

"Don't argue with me," Huo Changzhi hugged Xu Chu and asked him to lean on him, "sleep."

"If Huo Jiu'an cornea was used for others, I'm actually relieved," Xu Chu rubbed his hair against Huo Changzhi and said to him, "I don't want his things, I don't want everything."

Huo Changzhi pondered for a moment before saying: " I'm Huo Jiu'an's brother."

Xu Chu heard this, panting with laughter, got up from Huo Changzhi with his hands on him, sat up straight, and said, "Yes, you are Huo-ge, so what should I do?"

Huo Changzhi didn’t say anything.

Xu Chu waited and asked again, "How do you know that the handcuffs won't get an electric shock?"

"I don't know," Huo Changzhi said honestly, "I think about it now, it's too impulsive."

Xu Chu cut the handcuffs off in front of him and said to die. When Huo Changzhi was holding Xu Chu, he didn't think about anything. He clearly knew that his reason was taken away by Xu Chu, but he felt that it was not impossible to be with him like this.

It was too impulsive, but not regrettable.

When they arrived at the hospital, Huo Changzhi took Xu Chu out of the car. It was really sunny outside.

The rising sun shone on Xu Chu, Xu Chu felt warm and very happy, and when he just wanted to say that he was all right, he was sent to the surgical room.
