Another naturalistic approach is Incidental Teaching, in which unstructured events are carefully used by the therapist to focus on language targets - the emphasis here is that the setting is as natural as possible, as opposed to a highly structured drill-based therapy session. Elements of this approach include child-initiated conversation, and clinician elaboration and support. This approach to therapy is low-cost and easy to implement and encourages the child's engagement (Fenton, 2024).Â
