Syntax and Literacy

Understanding how sentences are structured, i.e., syntax, also impacts literacy. If a child does not understand how sentences are constructed in their native language, and are unable to effectively use them for communication, then formulating sentences and decoding the meaning of written text will be an uphill battle.
