Welcome St John the Baptist Family!
1st and 2nd Grades
Parents,
At your baptism you were given the gift of faith. At your child’s baptism, he or she was given the gift of faith. The gift of the Catholic faith has been passed down for generations and generations. We can and should nurture this gift given to us by God, and we should nurture the gift of faith given to our children by raising them to know, love, and serve the Lord. As parents, it is our right and duty to teach our children the Catholic faith.
Once per month, the online lesson will consist of a different element of our faith; it could be a Catholic tradition, a fact about our faith, from the Bible, from our Catholic Catechism, or a Catholic belief. All lessons will expand on that topic so that you will enjoy the beauty and richness of our Catholic faith.
Holy Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith, trusting in Your Son, Jesus, for the daily miracles that sustain us.
May we recognize Your hand in every blessing, big and small, and find strength in Your promises.
Help us to embrace each day with hope, knowing that with You, all things are possible.
Amen.
The miracles of Jesus show that the kingdom is in Jesus and that he is the Savior sent by God (cf. no. 547)
The miracles of Jesus are special events that the Bible says Jesus performed. These were things that normal people cannot do. We believe Jesus did these acts with God's power.
It’s very easy to claim that something is true; it’s much more difficult to prove that something is true! In the Bible, we see that Jesus made some very big claims about himself. He said that He was God’s son and that He had authority to forgive sins (something only God can do). But to prove that what He was saying was true, He performed many miracles. He healed people’s diseases, He cast out demons, raised people from the dead (including himself!), and much more!
When Jesus sent his disciples out two by two to proclaim the kingdom, they also performed miracles in his name.

Discuss with your parents and tell them about the 3 miracles Jesus performed.

Fish and Loaves Template (----->>>>)

Place tape on the back of the pictures and tape them to the inside of the bag. Make sure they are sticking up out of the bag. Write your name on the front of the bag when you are done.
Saint Joseph is a humble man chosen by God to be the earthly father of Jesus and the spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was a carpenter, known for his simple and loving work. His quiet strength and deep faith made him a model of obedience and trust in God’s plan. Saint Joseph accepted his calling with courage and sincerity, dedicating his life to serving his family and the community.
He is revered as the steadfast guardian of Jesus and Mary. His unwavering care ensured the safety of the Holy Family during times of great uncertainty. His role as a loving father and husband demonstrates the power of trust in God, and his example inspires all believers to protect and nurture family bonds.
Saint Joseph inspires many with his quiet heroism and trust in God. His life reminds us to live with simplicity, faith, and devotion. Believers honor him as a protector and guide in times of need, finding in his life a perfect example of love and humility.
When something good happens unexpectedly we say, "It's a miracle!" Sometimes something extraordinary happens, for example an illness cured. Why did Jesus work miracles? What miracles do you know of that resulted from people's faith and prayers?
Remember that Jesus’ miracles are not simply historical events but powerful demonstrations of God’s love and care for us. Let these miracles inspire you to trust in God’s power, show compassion to others, and step out in faith even when faced with challenges. May you continue to grow in your faith, drawing closer to God and being a light to those around you.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the miracles Jesus performed during His ministry. Help us to understand the significance of these miracles and how they reveal Your divine power and compassion. Strengthen our faith and empower us to trust in You, just as the people did when they witnessed these miracles. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Bring your sack of bread and fish to class.
See you next week!
