During health and wellness discussions, people often overlook the feet. After all, they don't seem that important compared to the vital organs. However, make no mistake about it, the feet are essential to one's overall wellbeing.
In today's blog entry, podiatric physician Selin Sakarcan looks at different ways that people can take care of their feet.
1. Feet need to be washed regularly.
Your feet are one of the dirtiest parts of your body, so they should be cleaned regularly. There are many ways to clean them, with some people simply washing in a shower or a tub, while others prefer using pedicure tools that help exfoliate dead skin.
2. Moisturize regularly.
Your feet have thick skin, making it difficult for moisture to get in when you apply regular lotion. This is something that people need to take into account by using a "foot cream," a type of moisturizer made specifically for the feet. By doing so, you will be able to retain the moisture that your feet need.
3. Wear open-toed shoes as much as possible.
People should wear open-toed shoes as often as possible since it allows their feet to breathe and ensure that they don't get fungus. While some people may not like wearing open-toed shoes, it is something that you should do since it can benefit your feet a great deal.
4. Rub your feet before sleeping at night.
Finally, Selin Sakarcan mentions that one of the best things people can do for their feet is to massage them at night, right before bedtime. Some people who have not done this will feel a difference in the morning when their body aches are gone.
