This is a concept for a game created during my Narrative module during my second year of my Higher National Diploma we had a week to create this concept.
Create a game concept based on the word SWEET.
Title:
Sweet Ride Dude! By Sean Browne
Tagline:
‘A gummy a day helps the valet getaway’
Game Type:
Score based driving heist game
You are a stoner valet driver looking to rob the sweetest rides. The longer you take the more weed gummies you eat and the higher you become. This makes the getaway harder. However, the longer you take the more likely more luxurious cars will appear to steal. This creates a loop of balancing your options to make the most profit from each heist. Keeping the car in best condition from the getaway maximizes profit from the connect.
California during the height of the hippie movement. (Early 70s). Marley is job hopping between all of the luxury hotels in California throughout the story.
Marley Toretto:
Marley is a typical California stoner bro who loves snapbacks, spirituality, 3am Nutella toasties and robbing luxury cars. You can typically see him in his oversized valet uniform wearing a ‘Santa Cruz’ snapback carrying his man-bag full of his favorite CDs and his high THC sour gummies.
Jambon:
Jambon is Marleys weed dealer and is completely ahead of his time in the business. Having studied chemistry, he is able to create sweets container THC and sell them completely under the radar of the law enforcements. He is also the embodiment of every stoner stereotype in existence. He has a pet turtle which he carries in his hoodie. The turtle's name is Cheetah.
The Shipper:
It is the Shipper who buys the cars from Marley and is a mysterious gangster whose identity is revealed at the end of the story. They like Marley because he is good at his job but hates Stoners. Marley tries to hide and because he uses gummies never smells of marijuana. This causes Marley to always lie on a knifes edge. (The Shipper identity is currently undecided, but it will serve as a comedic twist)
The gameplay loop includes the player valeting cars. Every 2 cars they take a THC gummy that increases how high they are. The player will have harder to control driving depending on how many of these gummies they take. The types of cars are random but the longer it takes the higher the chances of very luxury cars showing up. This forces the player to balance their ability to drive compared to the value of the car. Outside of this loop the game will be a series of cutscenes and dialogue that further develop the narrative. The setting of each level will be slightly different.
