My name is Hezkiel Martinus, and I am currently a pre-service student teacher representing Batch 10 at the University of Northern Philippines. I am pursuing an undergraduate degree in Elementary Teacher Education at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Borneo Tarakan.
I am deeply passionate about exploring new ideas and acquiring knowledge across various fields. I firmly believe that life is fundamentally about seeking enriching experiences and insights that contribute to one's personal and professional development. With a limited amount of time to make a meaningful impact, it is essential to engage in constructive activities that promote growth and self-improvement.
Since I was a child, i have harbored a dream of becoming a teacher. This aspiration is largely inspired by my father, who has dedicated his career to teaching in our hometown. I have witnessed firsthand the powerful impact that educators can have on the lives of their students and the community at large. In my village, there is a pressing need for qualified teachers, which inspires me to commit myself to enhancing educational opportunities in my locality. I strongly believe that quality education should be accessible to all children, regardless of their geographic location. My vision is to empower children in remote areas, providing them with educational resources and experiences that are on par with those available to their peers in urban settings.
Participating in the SEA Teacher program has been a valuable and enriching experience for my professional development. This program has granted me the opportunity to gain insights into various educational systems, cultural nuances, and the distinctive characteristics that define another country’s approach to education. Additionally, this experience has significantly enhanced my English language skills both in casual conversation and formal communication improving my ability to connect with a diverse range of individuals.
The experiences i have amassed through the SEA Teacher program and the relationships i have cultivated during this time are invaluable. Each interaction has contributed to my growth, allowing me to learn from dedicated professors and supportive peers who share my passion for education. I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to be part of the University of Northern Philippines and for the chance to engage actively in the SEA Teacher program.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about my journey and aspirations. I look forward to continuing my contribution to the field of education.
