The primary responsibility of an Authorised Firearms Officer within SCO-19 is to provide armed support to other SCO-19 officers attending incidents and maintain effective surveillance of ongoing situations.

AFOs are generally not expected to lead incidents, coordinate deployments, or conduct negotiations, unless no higher-ranking SCO-19 officer is available or on duty. Their role is to support operational activities and apply the skills gained through their core SCO-19 training.

As an AFO, you have completed the division's core firearms training and are considered a fully operational firearms officer within SCO-19. Officers holding this rank are authorised to patrol with the G36C or any other whitelisted assault rifle.

Officers are generally expected to remain at the rank of AFO for approximately 3–4 weeks before being considered for promotion to SFO.

During this period, we expect officers to consistently demonstrate a high standard of professionalism, maturity, and initiative. You should be capable of taking an active role at incidents, displaying strong leadership qualities, and setting a positive example for other SCO-19 officers while patrolling.

We also expect AFOs to maintain good activity levels, attend any organised training events where possible, and assist the division whenever required. Promotion to SFO is based not only on hitting minimum hour requirements, but also on your conduct in city and in discord, performance at operations, commitment to the division, and ability to lead.
