Title = Everyone has to change their eLearning tires, so that they can win the race
Session Abstract = It takes more than content to create a great eLearning experience. User interface, ability to navigate easily, and visual clues to let the eLearner know what is expected of them is critical. We will show you how this is being successfully deployed in our all program(s) here at SHSU.
Content/Objective = When a course starts off with organization and is visually stimulating or when gets an overhaul so that it is better organized and gets just a little “beautification” applied to it, it’s amazing at the increase in student’s success rates. Consistent application of visual clues enables the eLearner to immediately recognize where they need to go in a course. No longer are they left wondering what do I do? Where do I click? What are the objectives? Am I in the right course? Who is my professor and what does he/she look like? These are all questions an eLearner has about the eCourse before they even worry about the content they are learning.
We will show you how at Sam Houston State University Online has created a systematic approach to applying some eDesign best practices with our online courses that streamline, organize, and add some consistent contextual visual clues. Examples of before and after courses will be shown. We will guide you through the process we use when starting up new all online courses so that our eLearners are successful not only in that single course, but also complete the course study resulting in degrees are certification’s. Because after all it’s all about the eLearners being successful in the course, not about how much textual content you can put in it.
