OBJECTIVE: Each scout will ..... Create your proposed solution & Tell/Present/Explain why you picked the option you did and what you proposed solution is.
PROCEDURES:
- Introduce/Explain/Review what the Systems Engineering Approach is
1-Establish a Systems Engineering Operation
2- Describe the projects requirements
3- Plan the projects work or activities to be performed, come up with time schedules for this
4- Conduct research - get some ideas
5- Develop the best ideas for the the solutions you've come up with
6- Analyze the best ideas
7- Select the best idea
8- Construct or apply the solution to the project
9- Evaluate the solution, does it work, can it be better, what else could you do to it to improve it

- Use this approach to plan your next camp out OR design a piece of patrol equipment
- Use the workbook as needed
- You will explain the work done by six types you have selected & researched
- Tell/Present/Explain why you picked the option you did and what you proposed solution is.
- HOMEWORK = actually go on the trip or build the patrol equipment. Did it work like you thought it would? Continue the systems engineering approach to improve it
PROOF FOR YOUR MERIT BADGE:
- We will be working thought he U.S. Scouting Service Project Engineering Workbook, use this to help you document that you did today for proof
- I will take photos of you working through the process, that you can use for proof of completion of this stage. They will be uploaded to the folder below, unless you parents prefer you not to be photographed. If that is the case then they will have to contact me for any additional proof they want.
