Gaming with a purpose, Gamification, Edutainment, or Gameful Learning is not a new concept; it is just that in 2019 we have added digital tools and are able to offer it online, via tools that use SBT/AR/VR/VLE. (Simulation Based Training/Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Virtual Learning Experiences). We all remember playing games in class like basketball review, hangman to learn terms, etc… Well now we can "level up".
