The Scarlet Hollow First Baptist Church was one of the first buildings constructed by the Scarlet family. The church sits on its original foundation; however, the building was reconstructed in the late 1800s to accommodate the influx of citizens during the coal boom.
After the 1918 mine collapse, attendance at the church dwindled and the building fell into disrepair.
Currently, the church is led by Pastor Daniel.
