The Model

With years of experience working on best practices for rural early and primary learning, Learning Space Foundation (LSF) ventured into the pandemic shutdown of schools, to support rural children in remote villages of the Thane & Palghar Districts of Maharashtra, who had been struggling to obtain a quality education. The Learning Space Foundation came up with an innovative solution to help bridge the gap during these unprecedented times.

By following the guidelines set out in the National Education Policy 2020, a new model was created that was implemented on approximately 500 early and primary learners in the vicinity of their homes.

By observing the efficacy of the programme on the universal development of the learner (SarvaPrathamik has an effective 360-degree assessment that grades a child on both cognitive and life skills), we have already integrated the SarvaPrathamik model to operate both as an ‘in-school’ and ‘out of school’ system with the following five point plan of multiple outcomes that strengthen the community as a whole:

The SarvaPrathamik learning system has been designed to be a wholesome developmental model, for early & primary learners in Anganwadis and Zilla Parishad schools respectively. By offering an integrated form of learning and development, it empowers the child, teachers, parents and community by bringing forth good quality education for each and every child.

The model primarily seeks to achieve age-appropriate learning outcomes by drawing upon the Maharashtra Board Balbharati textbooks for content and delivers it to children in preschools and primary schools in stimulating and interactive ways, using meticulously handcrafted eco-friendly learning material

This early & primary learning development project seeks the development of the child by focusing on age-appropriate skill enhancement – all the developmental goals given below were targeted and achieved by the project in 2021-22:

A.      Language skills

B.      Cognitive & Math skills

C.      Interpersonal Social Skills

D.      Social-Emotional Skills

E.      Physical -Gross and Fine Motor skills

F.       Intrapersonal & Spiritual skills
