Please be on time for your scheduled hours.
In the morning, please do your best to arrive by 8:30 at the latest. The earliest to arrive are waiting for the last to arrive to kick off their day. Please be sure to greet your Sapling’s teacher so she or he can sign your Sapling in; our attendance and billing record keeping depend on it, but most importantly signing in/out is critical to the safety of your child during fire drills and other emergencies that might occur. Teachers will sign your child in and out, but be sure to say “Hello!” and “Good bye!” In the morning, our teachers are counting your child from the moment they see their faces. In the afternoon, once you’re on the playscape, they will be signed out and all yours again.
DROP OFF:
When you arrive in the morning, please drive slowly, stay far to the right, follow the flow of traffic around the loop and do not pass or reverse. Please do not park in the lane that leads to Devyn's kitchen (to the right of the house). It's our loading/unloading zone and where field trip vehicles may be leaving from.
You may arrive at 7:50 if you need to be at the front of the convoy, but please keep your children in the car until 8:00. Our teachers need the time in the morning to prepare the things that cannot be done the day before. For example, hazard and risk assessments of base camps and schlepping drinking and hand washing water out there as well. By the time you have seen your teacher, they have already toted between 40 and 80 pounds of water!
Elementary students should arrive between 8 and 8:15. These families have options: 1) If you have a kindergartner, drop off in the kindergarten loop. 2) If you have a playschooler, drop of in the playschool loop. Lagom (Grades 1 &2) do not need an escort and can head through the playscape to hang gear on their trail kiosk and check in with Ms. Kristen.
Kindergartners may start arriving at 8:00 and should be here by 8:15. Kindergarten families should pull into the loop extension. Pull down to the kindergarten trail kiosk and loop around to where the hops (vines on strings) are on your left.
Playschoolers should arrive between 8:00 and 8:30. If you arrive before 8, please feel free to park, unbuckle and get those packs ready. Parking is preferred for playschoolers for ease of gearing up and unloading so that the loops don't get jammed up. Playschoolers' gear should be delivered to their trail kiosk. Mr. Jared's students should hang their gear on the trail kiosk nearest the parking lot. Ms. Deb's students should hang their gear on the kiosk next to the play yurt. Parents should not drop without connecting with a staff member.
Please stay as far to the right as possible when using the driveway. There are pull off spots all along the drive. Please yield to those LEAVING.
If you are going to be late, you should message via Brightwheel so that someone can meet you and deliver your child to wherever their group is in the forest. If you are habitually late, you may end up schlepping to base camps and learning your way around the Four Seasons Forest.
An adult must accompany a child during arrival and departure. Whether you are picking up or dropping off, please make sure to communicate with a teacher; you may think we have seen you and your child and most likely we did, but transitions can be challenging--especially in a brand new environment with brand new faces.
PICK UP:
Scheduled pickup times are 11:30 am for half-day Saplings and between 3:00 and 3:30 pm (and 4:30 if agreed upon beforehand).
Kindergarten pickups can follow the same route as in the morning.
If you need to park for an extended period, please park along the stonewall, next to staff vehicles or along the edge of the loop (so that folks can still get by your vehicle). Please do not park in the loading/unloading zone to the right of the house.
Extended day is from 3:30 to 4:30. If you are going to need extended day, we prefer to know. Any student here without a parent in sight after 3:30 will be signed into the extended day and charged for the hour. The extended days are billed at the end of the month.
For the sake of rhythm and routine, please do your best to be on time for these transitions.
**As long as you are arriving in the normal drop off or pickup window, there is no need to message via Brightwheel. Please send a message if you are going to be late in the morning or afternoon or if your child is going to be absent. If you child is absent due to sickness, please share that information.
