My book for the book trailer was ざんねんないきもの事典. The book was interesting and funny for me, because the story was kind of witty, not just serious fact or something like that. I can’t read Japanese book well, but this encyclopedia included フリガナ for all 漢字, so I could read the book easily. This is my first time making a book trailer, and using imovie to make, so making video and editing it was challenging to me. And I was slightly disappointed with the imovie, because it had fewer functions than I expected. But I think it went better than I thought.

This makes the viewer drawn to the film and increases their interest on the subject, the tough situation which animals are put in is very well explained.

I think I did well on my book trailer. I did a book trailer about a book called “Malalas Magic Pencil”. The book was about Malala as a kid and that she wanted to bring peace to the world by using a magic pencil. Some parts I did good were making the book into a video and drawing the pictures. I also think I did well with my management skills and how much I focused. Some parts where I could have improved on were my editing skills.

I was able to see the change in heart Marara had because at first, she was just a selfish kid. However, she was transformed into someone who cares and works for the betterment of the world. Her paintings clearly reflect this transformation.

The book “夢は牛のお医者さん” was a really good book about making dreams come true. I really recommend this book for animal lovers and wanted to be a veterinarian. The book was about a girl named “Tomomi” and she was the main character. She lived in the rural area in Japan and went to a school of only 9 students. The principal bought baby cows and the students raised them very well. Then she realized she wanted to help cows and become a veterinarian. I think it is very important for people to follow what their passion is and just go for it.

This uses the stop-motion art very well and it is very easy to understand. The correlation of the school having a pet cow and the kid now wanting to become a vet is very well thought out. It would be even better if the difficulty in becoming a vet was depicted in the film.

This year is my first time participating in Book Trailer Contest. I chose this book because I liked the story of Tomomi, who had been dreaming to be a veterinarian. The challenging part was to think about what I could do to make a good book trailer about this book. Eventually, I decided to draw pictures and include lines that I liked. I think I was able to express the main theme of the story through the book trailer.

The work done has successfully conveyed the dream of being a vet at school. Furthermore, I think that understanding why achieving dreams is difficult is important.

In making the book trailer, I had many difficulties along the way. I had troubles with writing the lines and finding pictures. But in the end I was able to finish, even though it was my first time making a book trailer or any trailer in general, it was pretty amazing and I am very proud of myself. I am looking forward to make a better ones in the future, by working on my mistakes.

The protagonist overcoming many difficult obstacles was depicted well. I was able to see this clearly. However, the scene changes before the viewer can read through the text so I had trouble understanding until I replayed the trailer multiple times. Also there was too much information presented here.
