This year, we had decided to make our book trailer all video clips to make it look very smooth. We did not have much time during class to take videos, so we had to stay after school and film. We had various ideas for our book trailer, but it was very hard stringing them all together. We enjoyed searching for music off the internet instead of using the iMovie music.
This video introduces the storyline & the characters to the audience effectively. Narration is good. Clips like those of an actual dog show how much effort was put into this film. Perhaps include a hint to the author’s message.
Second Place
"Tonchinsan wa Soba ni Iru"
Hokkaido International School
Mizuki Frizzell (Gr.7)
Kokomi Frizzell (Gr.7)
This was our first time making a book trailer, so it was quite hard. We did not want to make a book trailer but we knew we had to, so we did. I am very glad that we did for we had a great time making it: it was tiring yet fun! We had struggled when our laptop powered off randomly, so a couple of times we had to start over.

The most challenging part of making the book trailer was finding a suitable music for the mood of the book and also they had to be copyright-free. In addition to that, I had to make 7 original illustrations that fitted the storyline of the book. However, the fun part was imagining of what the characters looked like and then expressing them through my art. The book trailer was a good experience as I got to practice my Japanese and also taught me how to share my skills to others. I wish to do better during the next time I do it, although my performance was still adequate.
Simple but creative. This video invites the audience to the mystery world of the book. We can tell the creators were very deliberate in what they drew in color, and which scenes they chose to narrate or not. Such creativity is effective in leaving a strong impression on the film. However, it does not tell us the theme of the book.
Ticker text in this movie has impact and is used effectively. This book trailer might make audience to read the book.
Third Place
"Inochi wa Doushite Taisetsu nano"
Hiroshima International School
Juliette Decamp (Gr. 6)
The process of making this book trailer was very interesting because it involved many unexpected challenges. One of the challenges I had was with the software I was using, almost every time I opened to fix some mistakes, all the audio was corrupted which forced me to start all over agin each time. But, I stayed patient and was able to create, what I believe, may be the best book trailer I have ever made.

The difficulties while making the Book Trailer were mostly drawing the images that actually look like the ones in the book. Also choosing the music because it is a kind of sad book but the sad music was too sad so we took like a long time for looking for music in Youtube Audio Library. We choose for blue sky which is more bright like the ending.
Simple, but clearly and directly tells the main point of the book. The trailer does make the audience think what life is. Good choice of music that matches the theme. Some narration would make it more inviting.
This video introduces the main character and the story well. The combination of the music and narration might have been more appealing.
"Kengai ni’!"

This is my first time making a book trailer. As the vocabulary was quite hard, I had to put in a lot of effort in order to fully understand what I was reading. However, I enjoyed the book, and it contained lots of emotion. I wanted to communicate this through the use of a range of colors in my trailer. I also picked the music out very carefully for the same reasons. Animating everything took a lot of time, but it was a good choice. I really worked hard, and I think this is shown in the final product.
A very high-quality trailer that catches and keeps the audience's attention. The way the story is told is also creative and dramatic, such as only using suggestive images to describe an event that the main character would struggle to talk about or accept. The trailer also makes you wonder why on earth the main character is going for a holiday with his grandmother. There are some parts you should practice narration a little more.
