Idea
Engagement of every individual in the civic life is essential for the healthy democracy. People must understand their role as Citizen. Education can help in learning citizenship and practicing it in protected environment.
India is the biggest democracy of the world. If citizens practice democracy rightly then it will affect the entire world. It is important to put the measurements around, understand current status, and decide the future course of action.
I aspire to design, and execute an international comparative study which will measure the active participation, civic engagement and citizenship education in India. International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS) is one such international assessment happening in 2022. I want to assure India's participation in this study, establish institutional mechanism to continue participation and influence policy decisions on Citizenship Education in India.
