TANAUAN, LEYTE, August 31, 2024 – Underscoring the importance of community engagement in fostering sustainable livelihood projects and uplifting the lives of marginalized farmers, fifty four (54) development workers from the Department of Agriculture - Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) in Eastern Visayas were capacitated during the Training on Community Organizing towards Social Mobilization, held from August 27 to 31, 2024 in Tanauan, Leyte. 

SOUTHERN LEYTE - A year after receiving the egg production project from the Department of Agriculture - Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD), the (MARE) CARES Hinapo Women’s Association of Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte was able to generate a total gross income of Php 787,631.

SOUTHERN LEYTE, August 16, 2024 - To improve the livelihood of small farmers and boost vegetable production in this part of the region, four farmer associations in Southern Leyte received additional assistance from the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) this year.

HINDANG, LEYTE - “Gikan sa pagsugod hangtod karon, daghan kaayo mi bag-o nakat-unan sa mga teknik o pamaagi sa pagtanom. Daghan pud mi na-realize nga daghan sayop ug kakulangan ang among tradisyonal nga pamaagi sa pagpananom,” says Ms. Angelina Flores of San Vicente Farmers and Fisherfolks Association (SVFFA) 

MERIDA, LEYTE - To further guide the farmer beneficiaries in manifesting a sustainable community-based enterprise, the LAMACA Farmers Association of Brgy. Mat-e, Merida, Leyte attended a two-day training on agricultural marketing and enterprise under the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) of the Department of Agriculture. 

CATARMAN, NORTHERN SAMAR – Five farmer beneficiaries of the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase 2 participated in the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Caravan which took place on August 2-3, 2024, at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium, Catarman, Northern Samar.

Camiguin Island, Region X, July 31, 2024 - During the recently concluded DA-SAAD Program Phase 2 FY 2024 Midyear Assessment held in Region X, the Department of Agriculture - Regional Field Office 8 reported 74.7% obligation rate from its approved allocation of Php 118,750,000 for Fiscal Year 2024, placing 2nd out of fifteen regions. 

EASTERN SAMAR - The Cacao Agro-Forestry Association (CAFA) of Brgy. 8, Lawaan, Eastern Samar gained valuable knowledge and skills on vegetable and cacao production during the Food Production and Livelihood Training of the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase 2.

ALMAGRO, SAMAR- The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase 2 has once again reached the coastal community of Almagro, Samar for its continuous capacitation to the farmer beneficiaries.

TOLOSA, LEYTE- To achieve success and sustainability after receiving the package of intervention on vegetable production, the 20 members of Haiyan Survivor Farmers Association (HSFA) received a specialized training from the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase 2 on July 2 to 4, 2024.

BILIRAN PROVINCE- In preparation for community-based enterprising (CBE), three hundred-thirty (330) farmer-beneficiaries from Biliran Province recently went through a comprehensive training on Agricultural Marketing and Enterprise under the Department of Agriculture-Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Phase II
