the places we call home
A Place to Stay
So a new rootling has been tossed into this great big world, now what? Of course it would be acceptable to adopt the nomadic lifestyle. Some rootlings with restless souls might never settle down... But many times a rootling will come across some corner of the globe that speaks to them. This might be the place where their coronation or temple was located, or it might be discovered after years of ambling over the wilds. No matter how it is found and selected, a dwelling is a chosen home.
About Selection
After either being crowned, or born of a temple, a rootling is bound to set off on a journey through its world. While wandering the lands your rootling might grow rather fond of a certain place, and choose to make its home there. A rootling's home doesn't have to match the natural geographical location of its root animal, rather it can select any corner of the globe that suits its fancy. Some rootlings may feel especially restless while wandering about, and never select a dwelling.
Territory or Haven
Rootling's have varying personalities, of course, and so they will all respond to their dwellings differently. It is not uncommon for rootlings to become territorial of their specific dwelling. Claw marks, bites, and burns might be found around the perimeters- all faintly glowing the rootling's lumesse color. More aggressive rootlings might drive other creatures out, and that might include animals, humans, or other rootlings. It is possible that rootlings might battle for a specific dwelling or territory, but they may also decide to settle in it together in peace. Shared or neighboring territories are common for rootlings who decide to be mates.
More relaxed rootlings may embrace their dwelling as a sacred space to care for and tend. They may become beautiful gardens, or elaborate displays of artistry. Rootlings can build structures, hide stashes, and nurture communities of other creatures within their dwellings as they please.
Dwellings can be a variety of sizes. Sometimes the size of a dwelling depends on the stature of the rootling. A mouse may have a smaller hold than a lion could muster. Clans tend to have the largest dwellings, as they have multiple rootlings defending it. If a rootling grows so old, powerful, large, and overgrown that it can be mistaken for the earth itself, then it can become a dwelling for another rootling.

Wandering
Having a spiritual body filled with magic is an incredible feeling, but you suddenly feel out of place. There is an urge from within to go seeking. Something presses you to explore. Where do you go? Are you drawn to places familiar to you, or rather to vastly different environments? Is there anything blocking your path that forces you in another direction?
Calling
You can't quite place why, but you feel drawn to this area. Perhaps it's a deep sense of security that says "home," or maybe it's a clutching gnaw telling you not to leave. What does this call look like? How does it feel? Is it a sound, a color, or a tingle on your spine?
Settling
You've decided to stay, and your presence creates change. It may be as large as felling trees, or as small as shuffled leaves on the soil. What have you done to make this place your home? How do you impact the land?
Home
This place feels like yours now. How did your relationship grow? Did you become territorial, or perhaps possessive of this land? Did you drive away the pre-existing inhabitants, or did you create a safe haven for all? Have any big changes been made from your time here?"
