For each rhetorical device below, find an example of it being used in the flyer and say why it is effective

o   Parallelism

o   Pun

o   Alliteration

o   Imagery

o   One other device of your choice

-       Which appeal (ethos, pathos, logos) do you see being used in the flyer? Use evidence from the flyer to support your answer.

-       Complete a rhetorical square for the flyer (purpose, audience, persona, argument) – we will review this on Monday

-       Write a ½ page analysis of the effectiveness of the flyer as a piece of advertising

Due Thursday - Read "The Placed Selfie" (click here for The Selfie unit page). Write what you think the author's argument is and what you think he does to make his argument effective (one or two things). Then write a 150 word reaction to the article. Assignment on Teams.

Due Friday - Do a basic Google search for self-portraits 18th century, self-portraits 19th century, or self-portraits 20th century. Or gain inspiration from the images you saw in the video in class. Which pre-21st century "selfie" (or self-portrait) do you like the most and why? What do you learn about the artist/photographer from his or her selfie? What do you think the artist's/photographer's argument is in his or her image? Add the image of the selfie/self-portrait to our Padlet (link on Teams for your class); include title, artist/photographer, and year; and answer the questions listed here.
