Independent reading due Friday October 10 - remember, you do not have to do all or nothing. It’s ok to get a B or C on a project. If you only read one book, just do one project. You can still write the essay on Friday for the one book you read. It is not too much to expect you to read one or two books during a 6 week period for a college level English class.

Due Thursday August 21 - “The Placed Selfie” – 200 word response (write in your Writer's Notebook): What is his argument? What is something he does to help make his argument effective? What is your reaction?
Due Friday August 22 - Do a basic Google search for "self-portraits 18th century," "self-portraits 19th century," or "self-portraits 20th century." Or gain inspiration from the images you saw in the video. Add the image of the pre-21st century "selfie" (or self-portrait) you like the most to the Padlet linked on Teams Assignments. Include why you like this selfie, the title, artist/photographer, and year to your Padlet post. Also include your response to the following questions on your Padlet post: What do you learn about the artist/photographer from his or her selfie? What do you think the artist's/photographer's argument is in his or her image? *Remember that a selfie or self portrait means the artist/photographer captured themself in the painting/photo (if the artist/photographer is someone other than the subject of the piece, then it is not a selfie).
