Made lots of progress with the catapult, with the winch and latch mechanisms. Progress with drivetrain, with design redone along with more suitable parts.
Accomplishments
Mechanical:
- Design, 3D printing and Assembly of Latching Mechanism
- Design, 3D printing and Assembly of Winching Mechanism
- Spec out and order new components for the Drivetrain
Electrical:
- Keeping up with mechanical changes
- Added limit switch to latch for automatic catapult control
- Tested new mechanical features as necessary
Software:
- Started integration of webserver interface with robot's latching and pullback mechanism
- Things like timing of how long to move the latching lever to get into position (WIP),
- How long to wait after starting to pull catapult back to start latching (WIP).
Challenges
Mechanical:
- Multiple versions of Winch and latching mechanism prototyped and tested in a very short amount of time to find the version that works.
- Not able to work on the drivetrain since we are still waiting on delivery
Electrical:
- Burned a motor controller, need stronger ones.
Software:
- Testing different timings for movement of latching and pulling mechanism. We need to find some consistency in how to move the latch and pulley.
Plan for week 8
Mechanical:
- Complete assembly of ALL mechanisms and the drivetrain
- DO WHATEVER IT TAKES to make everything functional. By the end of this week, everything should work mechanically.
Electrical:
- Last components FINALLY came in, so now I can finish the electrical board.
- Do things
Software:
- More integration, testing timing, etc.
- Also control of reloading mechanism, as that should be done by next week.
