Small ancient stream in Jarrow that is named after Saint Bede, a monk and historian, who lived at Jarrow. Its source is located at Hebburn, where it flows into Hebburn Quarry Pond. It continues northward and culverts underground until much further north and culverts shortly after again. It flows east while underground towards Jarrow and is visible again at Jarrow Allotments, before culverting again and flowing into the River Don underground. [2;S1]
