It continues past and flows under the A690 and re-emerges at Rainton, where it is named the Rainton Burn. Flowing past Chilton Moor, it is then named the Moors Burn. Continuing north, the Herrington Burn flows into the Moors Burn and continues along Bournmoor, where it is known as the Lumley Park Burn, and continues along to Lumley Park, where its mouth is located, and flows into the River Wear.
