The Whittle Burn's source is nearby to Halton, where it is known as Sparrow Letch, and flows east into the Whittle Dene Reservoirs. The Whittle Burn, as it becomes to be known as again, flows south from the reservoir and flows by Nafferton Castle. It flows down the Whittle Dene and arrives at Ovingham, where it flows into its mouth at the Tyne.
