I was invited to an 1 hour of online girl empowerment workshop called "Lessons For My Daughters" by a speaker from New York. In this workshop, I learned about self care, mostly about how to have a positive mindset with the feeling of gratitude and about the influence that the surroundings can have on us. After this, I thought that whenever I don't feel good about myself, I would need to focus on the feeling of gratitude, and it is a skill that I can use forever in my life.
← This is a parody that I made with another participant of this event, Bianca. We wrote this in order to show that women deserve more credit. Because we could not meet up, we recorded our voice individually, and Bianca edited into a lyric video. It wasn't my first time creating a parody, but it was still hard to come up with lyrics that fits the melody line, but we still were able to write and record all. Creating parody was fun, so I hope I could do it again.

Today, I found a box of many of my hairbands I used to use in kindergarten and primary years. Because I don't use them anymore, I thought of throwing them all away, but because they were pretty and I liked them a lot, I didn't want to throw them away. Then, I realized that I could cut off the old rubber part and keep the charms. I did that, and I was wondering what I should do with all those charms. I then realized that my family kept some glass jars from eating puddings, so I could put all those into the jars for room decoration. Moreover, this way, I am able to keep all my memories of using those hairbands in childhood in a clear jar where I could see whenever I want to. I felt that I was able to recycle old things and turn them into new pretty things.

This was my fifth MUN conference. This time, I tried out HCC, Historical Crisis Committee. This was the best committee so far in my opinion, because it is about history. This time, it was about French Revolution, and I liked it a lot because it has been one of my favorite topics in history. In previous committees like ECOSOC and EU, I usually felt a bit lost due to my lack of knowledge about current affairs. In HCC, however, as the name suggests, it's about history, and I have been learning history at school for 4 years already, so I had no problem catching up with what's happening. As usual, we worked in teams, and this time, all the members were friendly and easy to talk to, so we had a very fun and interesting discussion. I could learn a lot from the other members as well. Because I didn't feel so lost like in the previous conferences, I was able to participate much more. Therefore, I could identify that MUN committees related to history are the places where I can show m strength, but at the same time, I would need to improve my critical thinking and public speaking to aim for the best delegate.

Since a few months ago, my friend and I have been a leader of ASL (American Sign Language) Club. Although none of us are fluent in ASL, we are beginning to learn signs step by step with the other members, starting from alphabets. This time, we planned to make a video of ASL alphabets by asking all the members to take a short video individually, because of ongoing distance learning. I believe that putting everyone's video into one would make us united more during this pandemic period and give a bit of legacy from our club, and we could eventually spread around the video for other people to learn ASL as well. I believe that us learning ASL is our first step towards making a deaf friendly community.
↑ I did the editing of the video. Although I don't have much experience, I tried my best using what I have.

I participated in the AMO, a math competition, online by answering 25 math questions in 1.5 hours. I got a silver rank in G10, 1st in school rank and 5th in overall of G10. As math has always been my favorite subject, this was really fun, although it seemed like an exam. The types of questions were very interesting because I have been familiar with those types of questions from my learning since primary. I found my strength in math that I was familiar with many kinds of questions, but I believe that I could improve on knowing more kinds of math questions or thinking more critically .

Because I got into silver rank in AMO, I also applied for the global final round. The format was very similar to AMO, but this time, the test was much more difficult. I had troubles in time management, and I couldn't solve all questions as some questions were very hard. I realized that my strength in math is solving questions that I have experience solving of, but my weakness is to critically think to answer questions that I have never encountered with. Nevertheless, I succeeded to get a gold award in a G10 section.

In this MUN conference, I participated both as one of the planning team and as a chair. As I got an officer position in an MUN club in Wells this year as a treasurer, I planned this conference along with other officers and advisors. The jobs I did in the planning team were spreading to as many friends as I have about this conference and encouraging them to join, making a brief schedule of the conference day, making images to put up on social media to promote this event, and deciding countries for each committee. Although it was my first time having a position as an officer in MUN club and planning an MUN conference, because all the other members were friendly, easy to talk with, and reliable, I didn't feel any stress planning with them. I realized that although I am not confident in my debating skills in MUN conference, I am an organized person so I can use my strength in planning the conference behind the scenes.
However, due to the lack of chairs, I decided to participate in this conference as a chair just 4 days prior to the day of conference, despite my final exam schedules. Although it was my 6th MUN conference, I still was not confident in my speaking and debating skills even as a delegate, and it was also my first time being a chair, so I was very nervous. Thankfully, my co-chair was someone I knew from the past, and he was very easy to work with, so I had a lot of fun preparing to be chairs with him. I realized that I am not good at giving solutions to the given topic as a delegate, but I am a bit better at organizing and leading the conference as a chair, though I still sometimes messed up this time. I felt that I should try chairing in another conference in the future. This time, I chaired in UNHRC (Human Rights Council) committee, and the topic was about Hindu-Muslim disputes in South Asia. The topic was very familiar to me as I had classes about it in my past history classes, so I felt comfortable having that as the topic this time. I saw my delegates debating on certain solutions, and I was very inspired by them.
Overall, I am very glad that I had this opportunity to join in an MUN conference in different ways from the past conferences. I got to learn how people plan for an MUN conference and even how to chair. This became the best MUN conference I had so far because I had been involved in it since a few months ago to plan and even got to take the chairing position at the end.

I attended a ServICE Conference for the second time, in person for this time. On the first day, I led my own How-to Workshop for the first time. Because I am the leader of ASL Club at Wells, and I have learned some basic signs, I thought I could share that knowledge with students from other schools in this conference. Although I was very bad in public speaking skills in middle school, after many experiences in MUN, debating in clubs, leading a club, and of course, presentation in class, I didn't feel too nervous teaching in front of 25 people (mostly whom I met for the first time) this time. It might be thanks to a friend as a partner I had to present together, but I was surprised of how smoothly I could speak and present in front of newly met people. Although I could speak confidently, my areas for growth would be to be more professional and organized. Since I am not used to talking formally in everyday life, my speaking sometimes sound just like an informal talk with friends. Next time when I have to present like that, I would want to be more organized and formal.
We have prepared some things for this workshop. We first planned what to teach and what to present about ASL Club at Wells. After that, we got feedback from my advisors that we should implement an activity. They also suggested to make flashcards for participants. We made flashcards to give to the participants as souvenirs. In the workshop, they both seemed to have fun at an activity and used flashcards. After the workshop, many participants told me "good job," "thank you," or "you did well," which made me feel very relieved and glad.
I really feel that this is also all thanks to my friend who partnered up with me to do this. Without her, I might have felt more nervous or not being able to prepare all of them by myself.
Other than the ASL How-to Workshops, I enjoyed Keynote speeches and other How-to Workshops. I got to know more about global issues and people at around my age who are eager to be involved in solving those issues. I was fascinated by speaking skills of the Keynote speakers, and I particularly found "HER Period" How-to Workshop interesting, because period is something we don't normally talk about but relates to us directly. I was also interested in a keynote speech about plastic and how it could be recycled into new products. Because it was in person, it was a lot of fun as I could interact with many new people, and I really appreciate having an opportunity to lead a How-to Workshop.

As it was my second time attending the Youths for SDGs conference, things went smoothly in both Case Challenge and Breakout Sessions, as I was more confident in what I was doing. Case Challenge was more fun this year as there were four topics rather than only one. Because all the topics were related to Covid-19 pandemic, it made me aware of more current issues. My group’s main solution was to make an app, and working on this presentation made me want to have our app in real life. Though last time, we got into a bit of argument with a teammate, this time, our group work became much better, as we both were not first timers anymore. In the final round of the Case Challenge, I got to watch five finalists' presentations, which were all very inspiring.
I learned a lot from Breakout Sessions as well. I got to have Youth Leaders that I knew from past inter school events, and seeing them becoming the Youth Leaders inspired me to also want to be one in the future. In another breakout session, the Youth Leader explained the topic based on her real experiences, which was very interesting and relatable. Compared to last year, I could engage in discussions more confidently, so I was able to interact with other participants and learn much more from them.
I also wrote an article with my reflection:

Just like last year, I continued making bows and crochet to donate to club booths to sell them for fundraising. Last year, I made many single layer motifs that were easy to make, but I realized that not many people were attracted by them, so I made new things this time. For donating to PAWS, I made many stuffed cats with key rings. I put key rings so people can easily put it on their bags, for example. When making motifs, I made two layers and combined them, so they become more structured. I also used different straps, so it is easy for users to hang them somewhere. I also made paw shaped coasters, because the club's name is "PAWS". Like these, this time, I focused on usefulness or attractiveness of the products, if I would want to buy these or not. I also made bows like last year, but this time, I made new designs and used different materials, so there is more variety. I identified my strength as in how I could improve my products from last year by making variations and using different materials, but areas for growth would be that I would want to make something bigger and useful, not just for decorations.

Math club hosted a math competition online. As a member of the math club, I helped making questions for G9-10 participants and supervised G9-10 round and the winners' round. At first, we were planning to have it at school on site; however, due to hybrid schedule of online and on site, we needed to switch to hosting it online. Nevertheless, it was very fun planning this with other club members, as I got to get along with new people since I am the only G10 member in the club. I realized my strength in math in finding good questions and solving them, as well as the areas for development in creating own questions by myself. I could only bring questions from other sources, as it was very tough for me to come up with questions by myself. In the future, I want to try making math questions by myself.

This was my seventh MUN conference and the first time attending a conference more than a day long. I was very much satisfied with my performance in this conference. I am glad that I joined this conference as it boosted my confidence.
Although it was my seventh conference, in the last three conferences, I was not involved in writing resolution papers as I joined a committee with no resolution papers, or I chaired, so it had been a long time since I last wrote a resolution paper. I always disliked writing a resolution paper as I did not know how to write, and I did not understand what other delegates wrote on resolution papers.
This time, I was allocated to the committee of UN WOMEN, and our topics were about domestic violence and gender inequalities in education. These topics seemed familiar and were not too hard to understand. With the help of other delegates, I was able to add in some sub clauses as well, and this time, I was actually able to understand what the resolution paper said as a whole, for the first time. Therefore, I was able to ask many POIs as well as some for and against speeches, while knowing what I am saying. I was also able to make impromptu speeches, too. I felt that I participated more than average, and this was a surprising achievement for me, because I had always been trying hard not to be the most inactive delegate. I realized that my strength is my public speaking skill only if I know what to talk about. Development for growth would be to gain more knowledge on current affairs in order to be able to speak out more in future conferences.

I participated in WSC Regional Round in Bangkok for the first time. I had been in the WSC Club at school for a while in my middle school years; however, I never got a chance to participate in an actual WSC event. Though I left the club, I still remembered the format, and I took this chance to join this year.
I realized that my strength in debating was that I could speak with confidence in a loud voice, and my areas for development would be not to stutter and to speak in clear sentences. My strength for creative writing would be to hit the point by showing in a dialogue format, as I got a gold medal on it. Overall, my area for development would be to study for scholar's challenge and scholar's bowl, because I didn't get a chance to study this time.
There were 3 rounds of debate. Though I felt tired after 3 rounds, I felt that I got used to the format over time. I had experienced debating at school clubs several times as practice, but it was my first time getting scored on, so I felt accomplished that I could finally make use of the experiences.
Overall, this event was really fun because I got to be with my team members for most of the time. This time, I got in a team with two of the older students. I got to know them more, and I had a lot of fun with them. Debating was successful with them, because each of us were used to our own roles, such as me being the third speaker. Scholar's bowl was really fun as well because I got to do it with them.
In the closing ceremony, I got 7 medals in total: 3 gold medals and 4 silver medals. Our team also got qualified for the Global Round.
Gold:
Individual Debate
Individual Writing
Scholar's Challenge in Social Studies
Silver:
Scholar's Challenge in Science

As a member of the Japanese Club, I helped teaching origami in a workshop hosted by the club. I realized that although origami can be easy for me if I learn, it is not as easy to teach others. Some people with little experience in origami joined this workshop, and I had difficulty teaching some technique to them, because I assumed that some techniques are easy that everyone knows, while it is not for some others. Over time during the workshop, I slowly learned the sense of participants and more people understood my teaching. I learned that normality in my culture is not normality for other cultures, so I should be more open-minded.

My friend and I participated in a talent show at school. We performed our singing of the song 2002 by Anne Marie. Because we both love singing, we enjoyed this opportunity very much. Although I was first not planning to participate in this talent show alone, after finding a friend to perform together, I became more willing to take part, so I find the benefits of working together rather than alone. Because my friend's voice was high and my voice was low, my friend was in charge of the higher part of the song, and I was in charge of the lower part of the song. My area for development would be to improve my high voice, just like how my friend can project.
