2019~ today (15th/Nov./2020)
CAS Learning Outcome:
2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
5: Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively
I have been in a volleyball team at school since I was in G7. This was because I earned a high grade in volleyball test in PE, and I was introduced to a school team. During middle school, I could not go to practice consistently due to schedule conflict and also because we also had Covid-19 lockdown for half a year. However, since I became a high schooler, I decided to show commitment by not missing any practices, and I actually have not missed any practices so far. From this year, I started learning how to do overhead serve, and although it is hard and I still cannot do it, when I compare my skill now to my skill in middle school, it is much better. Also, I am now friends with the other members since this year, so I feel more comfortable working with them. I think this is important because volleyball is a team sport, not individual, and I like volleyball more this year because I am closer to the other members.
Jan./2021
1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
We went through another month of lockdown due to pandemic. During quarantine, I tend to stay home all day without any exercise. I thought it is better to do something than nothing, so I started this very small workout everyday, 2 minutes in total. In the first minute, I did bridge pose (as in gymnastic), and in the second minute, I did elbow plank. Both were not hard for me because those two were exercises I did often and enjoyed in my childhood. However, keeping them a minute each was not easy, and sometimes, I might not have been in a right form, so that would be where I have to work on to make it more effective. I think it was a good exercise to do during quarantine for a month, rather than doing no exercise.
