- Sanding long edges of boards (>12")
- Sanding inside curves.
- The horizontal edge sander can sand very long pieces, such as table legs. With care, pieces as long as 5 feet can be sanded.
- The tables can be adjusted up and down to accommodate longer boards.
- The end of the sander can be used to sand inside curves.
- Do not use this tools to make weapons. I know it's tempting, but don't. It will end with a weapons referral for you which leads to suspension at the least and possibly expulsion. Don't.
- Always wear safety glasses when using this tool.
- Tie your hair back, tuck in loose articles of clothing and put away your earbuds.
- Don't wear gloves.
- Turn on the dust collector whenever you use this tool!
- Only one person may use this tool at a time.
- Fingers must be 1" away from the abrasive material.
- Hold your work flat on the table. Adjust the table up or down if you need to make room for larger parts.
- Sand to the right of the belt. This moves your work closer to the dust collection port, and provides less room for acceleration should you let go of your work. (This does happen!)
- Do not sand anything shorter than 12". It is likely to twist out of your hands.
- Sand with a smooth, gentle pressure. Do not stay in one place for too long.
- If the belt wanders out of its track, turn off the machine and tell the instructor.
- When done with the sander, turn it off and wait for it to stop.
- Fingers 1" away.
- One person at a time on the machine.
- Move the tables up and down to wear the belt evenly.
- A: Power Switch: Twist the red off switch to release, then press the green button to turn on. Press the red off switch to turn off.
- B: Table for Curved Sanding. Make sure this table is above the flat edge table. This table is adjusted with part C.
- C: Curved Edge Table Adjustment: This is the adjustment closest to you. Loosen the screw to move the table up and down. Tighten the screw before use. Move the table up and down to sand on different parts of the belt for even wear.
- D: Tension and Tracking: Do not adjust these unless you have been trained to do so, and you have checked with the instructor! These adjustments are located toward the back of the machine. You will need to adjust these if the belt wanders out of its track.
- E: Table for Flat Sanding: Use this table for long pieces. Make sure it is above the curved edge table. Hold your work to the right edge of the table.
- F: Flat Edge Table Adjustments: Loosen both screws and then turn the center screw to adjust the table up and down. Adjust this table to make room for longer parts, and to wear the belt evenly.
- G: Dust Collection Port: This is where the dust gets sucked up. Sand close to the port so you don't spread sawdust all over the shop!
- H: Motor: This is what makes it go!
