Learn the Rules Before I Break Them: Taken Spring 2020
Taken in Spring 2020 alongside my Intro to Animation class, I took this class part of the preproduction major. Like my Life Drawing class, this class also included nude models for us to draw from observation to work on line of action and proportions. I still struggle even now, with my heads look much smaller compared to the rest of the body. This class also introduced me to learning anatomy, mostly the outer muscle structure from the neck to the feet. Apparently we were planned to do the facial muscles too, based on files on the class's student portal, but that never came to be. My professor in this class is super cool, understanding, and probably one of my favorite teachers in general. A bit of a potty mouth, but that made the class more enjoyable and down-to-earth. I like when the teachers are professional but remain casual with their students.
Here is a collection of some of the in-class studies and gesture studies of body, hands, and head. I would include all 150 gestures, 20 skull studies, and 10 hands and feet, but that was too much work to add here. The right image carousel is of 20 homework studies of the muscle anatomy we learned in class and a final exam at the very end. I messed up with the proportions and didn't realize that I had inked it in and by the time I noticed, it was too late for me to simply start over. Overall, I enjoy my time in this class and if the pandemic didn't ruin everything, I would definitely try this class again. I passed, therefore I do not need to, but probably for fun.
