Around this time, I was very into Mortal Kombat, so in a sense, these characters are "clones" of characters from Mortal Kombat. Up until my late high school years, I tried my best to make many changes to my own characters so they won't be confused with already establish Mortal Kombat characters. The vast majority of the information here was not explicitly mentioned in the first issue of The Ultimas War, but were planned to be addressed had the series went on.
If you want a general outline of where all 200+ characters fit into the landscape of Massive Melee, I suggest going to the subpage "Massive Melee Universe." There, you will find essentially cliff notes of each of the characters, their alignment, allegiance(s), affiliation, and their end goal. I have exhaustingly and painstakingly created subpages separated by alignment and divided by which characters were created between me, Gio P, Brian N, and Olivia R.
The following is an outline of the original roster as they slowly morphed into something that aimed to be unique from its inspiration with each revision.
The plot follows Osiris, a demon in Hell who rose up the ranks in the army and performed a coup and assumed power for himself. Though his rule was not welcome at first, he ruled justly and set in a golden era that lasted decades. However, under the cover that he was a just ruler, he was secretly evil and wanted to conquer all in his path. For years, he personally trained a powerful army capable of mobilizing quickly and swiftly defeating their enemies. They were unstoppable. Osiris started a tournament for worthy soldiers in his army and if he was impressed, a place among his henchmen. So far, only 4 had joined as personal bodyguards:
Warpoz, a savage physical brute who enjoys beating his opponent and always itching for a fight.
Xien (Originally named Mike, this character belongs to Olivia), the last of his kind, the Zhaokeran, wields a powerful sword capable of shooting blasts and has the ability to create shadow clones of himself
Devastator, originally a feared Admiral who was disfigured and mutilated when the lower soldiers tried to kill him. At Osiris' request, a group of sorcerers and scientists rebuilt him and is now equipped with a cybernetic heart and can't die unless the power goes out or the heart is ripped out. He was also given arms that could morph into any kind of weapon in existence.
Zogo, the evil incarnation of the Pogostick Guy, knowledgeable in the dark arts and wields a sword.
When the time came, Osiris revealed his plans of universal domination. His army and henchmen did not question it. But the people he ruled over now lived in fear under the penalty of death should they try anything to defy Osiris' power. In a short 5 years, he had conquered 3 realms (Reverse, Illusion, Unreal) and only 3 remained (Earth, Elemental, Ordaos). However, Ordaos chose to ally themselves with Osiris so he wouldn't have his army massacre them. Sorry, I wasn't big on naming the realms. However, the Elemental Realm were determined to push back Osiris' advances.
In the heavens, the Immortals: God, Satan, Angelico, Leo Maximus, Aurus, and Evrus, three bad, three good, can only stand by unless they are challenged.
The roster would go through a few changes before settling on what I have by 2014 before being reworked entirely.
Bob Onarati: The main hero. A former Battalion Ops agent, he discovered his power of controlling electricity through meditation when he was transported to a temple. There, he was able to open gates in his body to unlock the power of electrokinesis that remained dormant for years.
Centraus: A high-ranking centaur admiral. He, along with Reptoron, are guardians of the Nulspace. When Bob started his journey, he was met with the centaur and the reptilian creature. After defeating both in combat, they joined him in his quest to vanquish Osiris.
Reptoron: A reptilian creature who would look a lot like MK's Reptile's costume from Deadly Alliance. After the fall of his empire during the War on Water, he was transported to the Nulspace and given the duty to be its guardian along with Reptoron.
Jerry McKormick: The comic relief of the game. He is high ranking Battalion Ops agent. He has no special abilities. Husband of Joanna Parker.
Sean Harrison: The leader of the Battalion Ops. His left arm is completely robotic after his real one was cut off during a dangerous mission. His arm can emit repulsive rays with concussive force.
George Steele: He was created as the one tough black guy, akin to Jax and TJ Combo. A major in the Battalion Ops, he was to be given the ability to have extreme endurance, as his skin would be hard as iron.
Diane/D36: An acrobatic female cyborg ninja, a member of Battalion Ops.
Ruby: A woman clad in a red combat suit that allows her to shoot beams and give her flight. Another member of the Battalion Ops
GX517: An extremely agile, silver-finished chrome robot that is and could emit ion beams in rapid succession. It can also fly. Created by the Battalion Ops.
Naomi: A woman with hydrokinetic abilities, whether it is liquid, vapor, or solid. Rarely, she is able to freely control blood by either stopping its flow within someone's body or expel it from the inside.
Joanna Parker: A high-ranking Battalion Ops agent, who has yet to tap into her hidden ability of controlling her aura and manifesting it into physical objects. Wife of Jerry McKormick.
Roid: An android with a cannon arm. Cyborg is like, "The fuck?"
Exon: The brain of an aging fighting prodigy was transplanted into the body of a robot created by the Battalion Ops that can absorb kinetic energy and use it to augment strength.
Li Shen: A Shaolin monk that could control "minor elements": Ice, Sand, Grass, Wind, Magma, and Thunder.
Orion: A ninja with geokinesis and wields a staff with scythe blades at both ends. He, along with his brother Daisuke, work to free Kua Mei from Helen's spell.
Daisuke: A ninja who is an expert in toxicology and wields a chain whip with a 12 inch dagger at the end of it.
Vortigon: A being of cosmic energy, he is the half-brother of Bob, as they share the same father, therefore inheriting their late father's powerful abilities. He seeks to defeat Bob and absorb the other half of their father's powers for his own.
Death Mota: His real name Danny Michaels, he is a sadistic criminal on the run. He wields a machete and a revolver and relishes in brutalizing his opponents. He wears a mask that's reminiscent of Hannibal Lectar, though he's not a cannibal, and keeps the cuffs he broke out on his wrists as tokens of when he "scored the most kills".
Fiona: A femme fatale succubus serving under Osiris.
Kua Mei: The sister of Orion and Daisuke, she is under the spell of the sorceress Helen. Kua Mei is turned into an assassin who works under a mask and wields a dagger.
Oddjob: He comes from a bloodline of extremely lucky people. He uses this to his advantage to become rich. As greed consumed him, he begins working in the black market. He has yet to be caught. He allies himself with Osiris, as him taking over Earth will give Oddjob all of its riches.
Helen: A sorceress who cast a spell on Kua Mei to serve as her assistant. She is very knowledgeable in the dark arts.
Carina: A bounty hunter with a pet falcon and bear hired by Osiris to capture Bob Onarati. She and Bob are cousins though they both do not know it.
Swordplay: A rogue robot from the Battalion Ops after his A.I. became more self-aware. It can sprout two more arms with blades.
Koroshiros: Osiris's personal executioner.
Terrozix: A scaly lizard with spikes protruding from his body and can make them grow longer for both offensive and defense purposes.
Mike: A ninja who wields a giant sword he hefts around and can create shadow clones and can control his dark aura.
Zeph: A mutated beast sporting ridiculously huge arms.
Devastator: A warlord that was killed by the rebels he ruled over. When he was reanimated, he was given a cybernetic heart to keep him alive and robotic legs since his original ones were mutilated. He wears an ox skull over his actual face.
Warpoz: An immensely powerful physical brute that relies on his fists instead of magic to fight his opponents. He wears a helmet that keeps his facial features a mystery, as it darkens it out.
Osiris: The main antagonist, he is a demonic ruler knowledgeable in the dark arts and a combat veteran with a millennia's worth of experience. His head a giant skull with horns and spikes protruding from it engulfed in dark flames.
Quadrox: A four-armed monster.
Revision 2.0: In each revision, some characters were cut, a possible character replaced them, or if an existing character concept has a name change or different description.
Sean Harrison, Zeph, and Terrozix are cut.
Quadrox is renamed Tetracrox.
Oddjob is renamed Rob Slater.
Kua Mei is now the sister of the character Leon Samson, whom he long believed was dead until now.
Li Shen no longer controls the minor elements. His only special ability is using his chi to deflect projectiles and attacks that aren't physical.
(New) Korok: A Yin-Kro general who is given the assignment to go after Vortigon after he escaped his jail that he was exiled to on one of the Yin-Kro's conquered planets.
(New) Balor: King of the Formorians, he arises from the depths of the seas to once again try to reclaim Europe and then the rest of the world after having failed to when he and his minions were defeated thousands of years ago. Revitalized, much more powerful and stronger, he leads his minions to destroy all those that interfere in his path of annihilation to become King of the World. In order to do that, he must defeat an old foe in Arkryd and a new foe in Osiris and Bob.
(New) Hetrodin: An anthropomorphic Hercules beetle that sprouted from its cocoon that was kept watch by a devoted group of religious zealots that believed that the cocoon would bring forth the New Savior and destroy all life on Earth to begin anew. Once it was born, Hetrodin killed all those present and would later wipe out two cities. With god-like strength, endurance, and speed, this creature will do what it was destined to do.
(New) Leon Samson: A demon that can morph into a human-like appearance, but still maintaining his demonic powers of hellfire. He wields the Ashbringer, a powerful sword whose flames can incinerate almost any material.
(New) Arkryd: The soul of the warrior that had defeated Balor many ages ago. The soul is sent from the Heavens to reprise his role as The Chosen One by possessing his suit of armor only since his body had decomposed over the years. While the armor is old, dented, and rusted, it's still capable of taking hits. However, since a piece of the warrior's life force in in each piece of armor, when the armor takes damage, the life force endures pain. The warrior is called upon once again to slay Balor once and for all and to defeat new threats in the form of Hetrodin and Osiris. However, the goals the warrior must achieve may be only achieve if sacrifices are made. Sacrifices such as the forces of Good like Bob. The warrior believes Bob will be an obstacle to defeating all that is evil, so if it must defeat Bob, so it shall be.
Revision 3.0: Half of the roster is cut in an attempt for Massive Melee to become its own entity that won't be compared to Mortal Kombat. In addition to new characters, several established concepts are changed up to include more diverse characters. In this revision, some of the characters receive huge differences to the concepts and descriptions they were once given.
Centraus, Reptoron, George Steele, Diane/D36, Naomi, Joanna Parker, GX517, Exon, Fiona, Helen, Swordplay, Koroshiros, Rob Slater, Balor, Leon Samson, and Tetracrox are all cut.
Daisuke is renamed Jed Siroky.
Ruby is renamed Ariana, as her combat suit will now be gold and green.
Mike is renamed Xien.
Devastator is renamed Gozu.
George Steele is reworked into the new character Deacon.
Death Mota is renamed Dennis Mota, scrapping his "real name" and his preferred nickname as part of his biography.
(New Character) Deacon: A childhood friend of Bob Onarati and Jerry McKormick quiet, yet serious tough person. He joins their friends in their fight against the darkness. His iron-hard skin allows him endure any kind of blow.
(New Character) Rebecca: An agent and very close friend of Bob, she joins Bob in his quest to defeat Osiris and his growing forces of darkness. She does not have any special abilities, but she is a very gifted combatant and is able to improvise in situations where survival is a priority and seek out any weakness in her opponents.
(New Character) Rin Tonba: A warrior and heiress to the Lupus clan, a specific bloodline that have heightened senses and on full moons, have the special ability to morph into wolf-like hybrids, except for a select few that are able to transform at will. Rin is one of those select few, but has yet to fully develop her abilities. In the meanwhile, she has taken the liking to wield a jian jiao, a straight sword mainly used for quick strikes. She primarily uses her favored sword, nicknamed the Wolf Fang, while incorporating the fighting style her clan had perfected in last few hundred years.
(New Character) Luke: At a young age, he was abandoned by his family as they believed he was possessed when he was much smarter than those at his age of 2 when he was able to speak English fluently and extremely mobile. He is in fact an Indigo child, a child who has the special ability to control their inner life force and channel it into various powers that they would be comfortable with, such as the being able to project fire or control the flow of water. In Luke's case, he uses his life force to be use telekinesis and telepathy, as well as being able to control magnetism, though he has yet to achieve that. Once thrown on the streets, he spent the next 23 years on his own as a nomad, traveling from country to country while honing his skills.
(New Character) Marie: A powerful sorceress that Osiris had saw potential in. He married her so she could take his side as his queen. She is the one who put Kua Mei under the spell. Though she is very knowledgeable in massive amounts of magical arts, she loves to use Greek fire spells the most.

She has a knack for insulting during fights and boasting after she wins. When the greatest fighters happen to coincidentally emerge at around the time, she sets out to defeat everyone of them so she can take the title of greatest fighter in the world.
The current roster is (as of 2014 when this was originally written):

He is in fact an Indigo child, a child who has the special ability to control their inner life force and channel it into various powers that they would be comfortable with, such as the being able to project fire or control the flow of water. In Luke's case, he uses his life force to be use telekinesis and telepathy, as well as being able to control magnetism, though he has yet to achieve that. Once thrown on the streets, he spent the next 23 years on his own as a nomad, traveling from country to country while honing his skills. The heroes encounter the telepath when they intrude into his "home" in a forest. During the time he was alone as a hermit, he grew apathetic towards mankind's earthly squabbles. He believed that the human race was not worth saving. When confronted, he took on all challengers at once, making quick work of the group. However, the numbers game caught up to him and he was defeated. Seeing that these makeshift heroes are driven to fight for the greater good with no need for personal glory, Luke has a change of heart and joins Bob and his group.
Arkryd: The soul of the warrior that had defeated Balor many ages ago. Korok: A Yin-Kro general who is given the assignment to go after Vortigon after he escaped his cell that he was exiled to on one of the Yin-Kro's conquered planets. Korok is determined to bring Vortigon back to face proper justice and he will stop at nothing to fulfill his duty. The inter-dimensional conflict will not faze the man on a mission and will bulldoze through any and all obstacles.
Zoe: A national fighting champion who travels the globe in search of the greatest fighters around so that she could beat them. She has a knack for insulting during fights and boasting after she wins. When the greatest fighters happen to coincidentally emerge at around the time, she sets out to defeat everyone of them so she can take the title of greatest fighter in the world.
Retro: A mysterious fighter that watches over as all the events unfold. He is able to melt into the shadows and his surroundings. He is also able to teleport across great distances.

Marie: A powerful sorceress that Osiris had saw potential in. He married her so she could take his side as his queen. She is the one who put Kua Mei under the spell. Though she is very knowledgeable in massive amounts of magical arts, she loves to use Greek fire spells the most.
Viper: A spy for Osiris. He can blend into the backgrounds behind him and control his footing and not make a single noise to alert his enemies to his presence. He is a skilled combatant and wields a golden rope whip that can not be broken.
This is where the initial Massive Melee concept that came to life in middle school ultimately (I'm done with this goddamn word, goodness) goes to die before being completely revamped into what is now called Crimson Skies. The skeleton of the 2014 revision is reused to a degree but the original continuity involving the multiple dimensions and the hundreds of characters are gone.
I was only able to do four full biographies dated during the first revision, around 2011, for the "finalized" 2011 roster.
Understandably, my late middle school handwriting is not the best nor some information is going to sound incredibly farfetched and borderline improbable, but that's what I get for doing no research. I went ahead with typing out the biographies below.
1) Ron Onarati: (Yeah, the main character is named after me, fuck with me cuh)
Height: 5'8" Weight: 195 lbs. Eyes: Brown (White when he charges Hair: Black
Ethnicity: American born Filipino & Japanese (I was a fucking weeb)
Full Name: Ron Onarati Occupation: Serves as Special Op in the Battalion Operation
Place of Birth: April 11, 1987, Long Beach, CA Age: 24 (this age was decided in 2011)
Known Relatives: Bob Onarati (father, deceased), Shana (mother, deceased), Carina (cousin (this would later be revealed), Unknown older half-brother (later revealed to be Vortigon via Shana, also revealed to have been a Yin-Kro alien)
Powers and Abilities: He controls lightning and thunder. Ron is a skilled combatant, having mastered Jeet Kune Do and a style in which he somewhat invented, a mixture of parkour and the Elephant Style. Li Shen had trained him for 3 years. He is able to levitate with electromagnetism.
Ron, a gifted fighter, joined the Battalion Ops. He mastered the fighting styles of Jeet Kune Do & one in which he mixed parkour with the Elephant Style. Once he joined at age 19, he quickly climbed through the ranks, at rank Special Op. Soon, he, Jerry, and Joanna embarked on a mission to take out some terrorists who had gotten ahold of some files that had blueprints of R.45 (later named Razik). However the terrorists weren't "human" and a shootout ensued. Later, the leader "opened" a portal to trap Jerry, Joanna, and Ron. Jerry and Joanna evaded, but Ron succumbed to the trap. Luckily, both of them finally killed the targets and held the leader in custody. Ron awoke to find himself in secluded mountains of Japan. He was soon invited by the the Elders o fthe temple, named the Sun Lang Temple. The Elders then introduced Ron to the Sloth, the grandmaster. The Sloth began to tell of a vision of a hero that could defeat Osiris. The Sloth said it could be Ron, but Ron needed to be tested in combat against Shirou. Shirou defeats Ron. So the Sloth unlocks Ron's hidden abilities and his unhuman power to use lightning. The sloth then had Ron train with Li Shen in combat and control his powers. After 3 years, Ron then returned to the Battalion Ops and informed them about the otherworldly threat of Osiris. With top members George Steele, D36, Roid, Exon, GX517, Ruby, and his friend Jerry and Jerry's wife Joanna, they all set out on a journey to combat this evil of Osiris.
2) Jerry McKormick
Height: 5'10" Weight: 198 lbs Eyes: GreenHair: Blond Ethnicity: American-born Scottish
Full Name: Jerry McKormick Occupation: Serves as Special Op in the Battalion Operation
Place of Birth: August 23, 1983, Los Angeles, California Age: 28
Known Relatives: Zack McKormick (father), Leanne Carter (mother), Kate (older sister), Sandy (younger sister), Joanne Parker (wife), Erin (sister-in-law)
Arsenal: Nunchakus (modified), Taser Gun, Call Watch, M9 (silenced in Fatal Strike)
Powers & Abilities: Jerry has no superhuman powers of any kind. Jerry has, however, an IQ of around 185. He is skilled in the fighting arts of Judo, Assassination Arts, and kickboxing.
Jerry grew up in the crime-ridden streets of LA during the late 80's and early 90's. As a young child during the LA riots, he was supposedly emotionally scarred when his home was broken into. His family survived as his father was a sergeant in the Navy (in retrospect, should have been Army). That event led Jerry to train himself so he could be able to protect himself and his family. He became a soldier in the Navy (again, Army) and then a CIA agent. On one mission, his order was to rescue captured prisoners in Stalingrad, Russia. However, once he arrived, he was surprised to find that "sub-humans" were the target (the term was used to describe those with super powers). He also found out that among the hostages were his father and two high-ranking officers in the Battalion Ops. The officers were astounded by Jerry's skills in combat. Once Jerry took out the targets, the high-ranking officers offered Jerry a choice to become a captain in the Battalion Operation. He was reluctant at first, but after being convinced by his father, he soon took the job. After 2 years of being in the Battalion Operation, he achieved the rank of Special Op. That was when he met Joanna. They dated for 13 months before proposing to her. Both of them easily completed missions together. Jerry was very easygoing, but at times he could get very serious and often aggressive. Jerry was soon given the painstakingly mission to find Dennis Mota, aka Death Mota. Death Mota is to be captured dead or alive. However, encounters always resulted with failure and somtimes near-death. Death Mota had told him, "I choose to keep you alive...I 'play' with my victims." Jerry would have just dropped it and left it to someone else, but soon ignorance turned to vendetta when he found out it was him who broke into his hour and viciously attacked his parents as a child. Jerry vows to one day kill Death Mota.
3) Reptoron
Height: 6'1" Weight: 225 lbs. Eyes: Light Blue Hair: None Ethnicity: Reptilian
Full Name: Reptoron Amphibricus
Occupation: Former prince of the Reptilian Lands, now Guardian of Nulspace
Place of Birth: (in Hybris Dimension Time) 1st Quadrant, Wet Marsh, Reptilian Lands, 1863 AD Age: 34
Known Relatives: King Hazmat (deceased), Queen Dyca (mother, missing), Prince Amphibricus (younger brother, now missing)
Power and Abilities: Superhuman strength and agility. Bodily fluids contain acidic liquids. Reptilians can breathe underwater and see far distances. Reptilians are very flexible and some can move their bodies in extreme way possible. Reptilians are also thermo-sensitive in various situations.
(This biography was written after The Ultimas War, retconning the War on Water plotline.)
Reptoron, heir to the throne of the once majestic empire of the Amphibricus Empire. However, years prior to its fall, the empire was in a war with the Biozerk army, led by Rozz, for the territory for the mainland for supremacy. Rozz and hsi army were onced trusted allies before rising up to claim the empire for their own. The War on Water as it was called, was where the reptilians' abilities were at their most powerful. King Hazmat, who controlled the army, was winning for 3/4th's of the war until Rozz successfully kill him in his chamber. Without any sense of leadership, the reptilian royal army fought with little confidence in themselves, leading to their ultimate downfall. When the army and imperial guards scattered, Queen Dyca, Amphibricus, and Reptoron were left with little defense. However, Amphibricus and Reptoron had been taught to fight by their father. When the Biozerk Army closed in on them, both men held off the oncoming attack. Unfortunately, Rozz soon arrived, but the three were saved by a random hero, who revealed himself to be Aurus. He blinded the room full of Biozerks, letting Dyca, Amphibricus, and Reptoron escaped. They escaped through the 3rd Quadrant of the Wetlands when somehow it began to collapse. A giant fissure opened in front of them. Amphibricus convinced Reptoron to jump across while he and their mother escaped to a fail-safe home in the Shinto Mountains. Reptoron wandered aimlessly for days, nearly dying before being saved again by Aurus. Aurus, being an Immortal, gave him a job to guard the Nulspace with Centaurs. Both were soon recruited by Ron to fight against Osiris.
4) Centraus
Height: 8'11" Weight: 400 lbs Eyes: Golden Yellow Hair: Brown Ethnicity: Centaurian
Full Name: Centraus Occupation: Guardian of Nulspace
Place of Birth: (In Unreal Dimension Time) Kowa Range, 468 Age: 287
Known Relatives: Names Unknown; Wife (deceased), son, two daughters, sister
Powers and Abilities: Centaurs hav ethe great ability to use mystical powers as well as possessing superhuman strength and speed. Being expert hunters, they have enhanced senses.
Centraus's past is filled with mystery. Whenever someone brings it up, he would likely reply, "I regret every bit of it." He is a member of a race of Centaurs that lived in the Unreal Dimension. When Osiris rose to power, he ordered they aid his conquest or face extermination. Centaurs, being a race of expert warriors, defied. To their surprise, Osiris's army had killed off many centaurs, bringing the population to only 750,000. They journeyed to a secluded area in the Southern Plains because Osiris had ordered his army and put a bounty for the extinction of the centaurs. Fortunately, the area was uncharted. However, within 3 weeks since their escape, Osiris's army had reached their new homeland, but instead of slaughtering them, they kept them as slaves. It is unknown how they found them. Some centaurs, about 100, escaped, including Centraus. Centraus was then given a job by Immortal Angelico to guard the Nulspace with Reptoron. Soon, both Reptoron and he was recently recruited by Ron Onarati to overthrow Osiris. (It was to be written that Centraus had sold out his race to escape and tried to have his family leave with him as well. However, the deal with Osiris only applied to him and the ruler had his wife killed).
