Rory
Main protagonist, exceptionally well-trained combatant of Battalion Ops, who leads a ragtag team of heroes, both willing and reluctant, to fight and repel Nero’s forces. He fails initially and almost dies when Nero is repelled by the rest of Rory’s team, who end up going into hiding as Nero’s temporary setback ignites further destruction across the world. A blast throws Rory down a cliff and he is resumed dead, but is saved by a rogue Rin Tonba, after she had abandoned her clan and ultimately her destiny. Nursed by her, Rory and Rin later resolve they must confront their past mistakes and failures and make right with them. Rory has to confront the fact that he tried to run away and give up, believing himself no longer capable of being the hero the world needs. But he came to an ultimatum, that if no one can stand up to Nero, it has to be him or die trying. Together, they reach back to the remnants of Rory’s allies and embark on a quest to stop Nero and send him and his forces back to where they came from.
Nolan McKormick
Rory’s best friend and fellow Battalion Ops member. Technological genius who supplemented himself with cybernetic augments to boost his physical abilities. He was crucial when Rory fell and he and Deacon rallied the others to repel Nero long enough for him and his friends to escape. Troubled by the loss of a friend, he worked tirelessly to string together multiple rebel groups until Rory’s eventual return. With Rory, he leads the ragtag group in stopping Nero and repelling his forces back to where they came from. Long before Nero’s invasion, he tirelessly pursued Dennis Mota, a criminal wanted internationally and responsible for Nolan’s near crippling paralysis, which required the cybernetic augments in the first place. Nolan’s recent failure to capture Death Mota has begun to crack his psyche, as he abandons his comrades to bring the criminal to justice on his own, believing the system he supported held him back . When Rory returns to recruit Nolan, the enhanced cyborg holds nothing but anger, resentment, and contempt at his best friend, having left him at a time when he needed him most. Though uneasy at first, they soon regain each other’s trust and work to take down Dennis and Nero.
Deacon Hill
Rory’s best friend recruited to stop Nero after his failed initial attempt years before. Deacon trained in ninjutsu and assassination arts, where he gained superhuman strength, agility, and endurance, as well as teleportation and the ability to use his aura while fighting. He saves Nolan and Giselle from being killed and is able to push back Nero and his henchmen temporarily, long enough for Nolan to regain consciousness and allow them to escape. Deacon continues to hone his skills while assisting rebel sects in gaining back what little ground they can against Nero. However, without Rory to serve as his moral compass and the plight ever looking so grim, Deacon slowly abandons his code of conduct of never killing when he tires from seeing comrades and friends die at the hands of Nero and his army. When Rory returns, Deacon becomes conflicted as he now has someone to help keep him in check, yet believes he is in the right when taking lives in times of war. At the end of the day, he and Rory compromise that they must do what they can to save Earth, by any means necessary, but Rory warns not to let it take away the hero he is.
Giselle Wattson
Battalion Ops agent and friend of Rory and Nolan who also helps in the initial preemptive strike. Injured, but saved by Nolan, she heals and trains relentlessly, reaching near superhuman heights of agility and speed. She, along with Nolan and Deacon, works tirelessly in the two years without Rory in fighting back Nero’s forces. However, over time, Nolan abandons them, disillusioned with waiting for the law to properly enact and be deployed, and Deacon becomes more ruthless and savage in their plight to drive back the demon onslaught. Giselle herself as beacon of morality in a world on fire, fights to uphold any sense of sanity.
Rin Tonba
The heir to an ancient clan dating back hundreds of years, dedicated to stopping all threats to humanity, who bred warriors and soldiers meant to defy even the gods. Though revered and praised in the old days, they lost the spotlight as kings and queens, who foolishly believed themselves and unto others that they had the divine right to rule, began to spread. The clan went underground, stopping all threats before they became too catastrophic, whether directly or indirectly. Rin is nothing different as she had been trained from birth to control her superhuman abilities and prowess and wait for the next threat to Earth.
Nero came and, against Rin’s wishes, the clan ordered her to wait, as this was meant to happen as with other tragedies that occurred, but otherwise could have been prevented through the clan’s means. Rin became cynical and deserted both the clan and her apparent destiny. Nero and his army spread fire and death upon the world, and a regretful Rin struggled to stand by. But how? She believed this to be her fault and went further into hiding a failure to her clan and to the world. It was by chance she stumbled upon Rory near death and nursed his injuries. The two exchanged their stories and Rin pieced together that Rory would be the Savior prophesied in ancient times against a being so powerful that it puts humanity’s survival at risk. The two are found by one of Nero’s extermination squads and though Rin, powerful as she is, found herself at odds. Rory, still struggling to stand on his two feet, somehow unlocked his innate electrokinesis and summoned lightning bolts that destroyed the squad out of desperation.
Rin concluded that Rory could be the spark that undoes all the devastation, so they both resolve to fix their mistakes and band together and rally as many allies as possible to defeat Nero. For Rin, it means she has to fulfill her destiny and restore the honor of the clan she abandoned.
Rogine
Wandering soul looking after his own and a refuge comune, amid the crumbling world. Though struggling, he makes ends meet for his wife, children, and those around him. He is able to fend off intruders and Nero’s army using his telekinetic abilities. Rory and his group encounter Rogine, who initially fends off the group almost single-handedly, but an attack by Nero’s forces Rogine to work together with Rory to defeat the invaders. While hesitant, Rogine later joins Rory and his group on their quest to defeat Nero. His psychic abilities will tip the scales in Rory’s favor in taking back the Earth.
Vortigon
A Yin-Kro fugitive who fled his planet when he was responsible for attacking foreign leaders who came to their planet of Yin-Kro under the guise of peace. A member of Yin-Kro military, Vortigon witnessed and overheard plans of the foreign leaders wanting to plan a device meant to knock out the planet’s defense system, leaving them vulnerable to invasion. Vortigon took matters into his own hands and murdered the foreign scouts. Unfortunately, during his escape, Vortigon had also killed all those who got in his way in desperation and fled to Earth. He is being tracked by Korok, a Yin-Kro general who briefly tried to stop him. Vortigon crash landeo and get involved in the conflict with Nero. Vortigon would find himself entangled with the likes, and believes everyone is out to get him and turn him in, becoming a wild card in the global conflict.
Korok
A Yin-Kro military general tasked with bringing back Vortigon to their planet so he would pay for his crimes of killing a foreign contact. Despite hearing Vortigon’s plea to hear his side, Korok would have none of it and enact law and order to punish Vortigon for his crimes. Vortigon briefly got the upper hand and escaped, but the general was close on his tail. Korok witnessed Vortigon take other lives during the escape, which fueled his sense of justice and vowed to bring Vortigon back alive, even if that meant breaking every bone in his body.
Huling
Legends from forgotten civilizations have told of “The Great Destroyer”, a bug-like creature of immense strength and power meant to wipe away all life to start anew. The tale was feared by many, but some worshiped, the beast was given many names, but goes by one name, Huling. Once appearing millenia ago to wipe out many civilizations, Huling was defeated by a warrior. Before the warrior could deal a killing blow that would end its path of destruction, Huling reverted back into a primordial state, wrapping itself in a near indestructible cocoon. The warrior, along with a clan who helped assist in Huling’s defeat, buried the cocoon deep underground. Its Cocoon was discovered in the late 1800’s in eastern Europe and transported to the UK, where religious zealots stole the Cocoon. They actively worshiped and awaited for The Great Destroyer’s return to bring about a day of Judgement. Huling awakened and slaughtered everyone present. It awoke to find a world in disarray, its main purpose already being carried out. Regardless of their alignment, Huling’s fate is to destroy all present and allow the Earth to begin anew.
Mikhail
Long ago, this warrior was responsible for stopping Huling once and for all. However, they were unable to stop Huling before the monster surrounded itself in a protective cocoon. With no other option, the warrior, with the help of an ancient clan who bred fighters to combat such creatures, buried the cocoon deep underground and hoped it would never resurface. The warrior would later die of natural causes.
Centuries would pass, the warrior’s armor was held and protected by the clan to this day. When Nero and his forces invaded the Earth, the clan believed a prophesied person would inherit the armor and face the demonic emperor and his army. However, no one did and circumstances became dire. When the clan’s heir, Rin Tonba, deserted and a great threat, Huling, had returned, the armor radiated a purple energy and came to life, the former owner’s spirit returning from the Heavens to fulfill what they couldn’t centuries before. Not only must they stop Huling, they must also defeat Nero.
However, after so many years, threats to the Earth have taken many faces; those who willingly create evil and darkness and those who promise to change the world for the better, only to ultimately succumb to greed, indifference, and inaction, who are no better than the other. The warrior spirit saw Rory’s failure to stop Nero, the latter upping his efforts to take the Earth and cause widespread destruction; because of this, the spirit saw Rory responsible for the Earth’s current predicament. The spirit of Mikhail surmised that both are two sides to the same coin, and anyone who poses a threat to the Earth must be vanquished in the name of ensuing peace and harmony
Nikita
A boastful, prideful martial arts prodigy who had become Champion of the World prior to Nero’s invasion. She climbed the global ranks of one of the greatest fighters in the world, but was unable to be used in marketing due to her brash personality being considered offputting by the majority of the audience. The media constantly lambasted Nikita for her supposed “arrogance, unsportsman-like conduct, and unladylike behavior”, despite her proving time after time her combat prowess tournament after tournament. Along with the title, Nikita was to receive a large amount of prize money, but The World Champion tournament had to withdraw all of its funding and prize money to the United Nations to help fund military budgeting when Nero began to level world governments. Enraged, and perhaps driven by ego she admits, Nikita set out to stop Nero herself; she had to prove to all doubters her combat capabilities are up to snuff, prove she is the one true Champion of the World, and get the money she is owed in order to save up for her and her daughter’s upbringing.
Dusk
A mysterious figure who observes all the events as they unfold, from Nero’s first invasion on Earth, Rory’s failed attack and return, Huling’s and Mikhail’s return, and the final assault. They wait in the shadows and observe, then report back to their superiors, a higher being of sorts, as they wait for the right moment.
Dennis Mota
Wanted by countries in all four corners of the world, Dennis is a notorious black market criminal who recently learned of realities beyond Earth’s. When Nero stepped foot onto Earth for the first time and had quickly conquered his first country, Dennis and his men were quick to greet and pledge their allegiance to Nero, giving him supplies and routes that would quickly allow Nero’s army swift invasions and takeovers while giving him full immunity. Dennis would work both sides, however, and profit off the business of war, selling arms and leaking various strategic plans to the UN and other countries’ armies in exchange for clemency and his name cleared of charges across the globe. Regardless, Dennis revels in the chaos and continues the perpetual cycle of violence. He is pursued by the Battalion Ops for his crimes, namely Nolan, who Mota left a scar across his face and crippled him years before and killed several of his unit. He has outfitted himself with cybernetics meant to augment his physical strength to superhuman levels.
Orion
Geokinetic subhuman codenamed Orion was born with his powers in a rural village in Eastern Europe. He would only use his powers for simple farming for his family and neighbors, allowing them fruitful supplies and landscaping. After being noticed by his local government, he was later found and his family executed, the surviving orphan now conducted under experiments against his will. Orion was stripped of his free will as he was forced to militarize his abilities as he got older. His seismic control and ability to absorb and condense dust in the air into rock-like projectiles became a worthy asset in expanding the government’s influence over neighboring countries.
Soon enough, as Orion became a young adult, his powers grew to levels his overseers did not expect, as the geokinetic leveled an entire block with ease during a mission to intimidate rebel forces, killing dozens. Fearing his power, Orion was to be executed when Maddox arrived, delivering her message. Orion was ordered to kill the intruder, but simply bent the ore within the metal walls around them and slaughtered everyone but Maddox. Impressed, Maddox offered a hand in friendship, promising Orion he could get his free will back if he served Nero. Hoping to get back at humanity for taking away all that mattered to him, Orion agreed.
Gen Tonba
Rin’s younger sister who defected from the clan after Rin’s disappearance. Gen, as all others within the clan, trained tirelessly from birth for when she would be called to help combat disastrous threats to Earth. Nero would be her first major task, but the clan opted to stay back as the demonic emperor wreaked havoc across the globe. When Rin left, the world fell under more chaos and Gen also fell disillusioned with the clan’s goal due to its inactivity. Though Rin chose to do nothing, Gen had given up entirely and pledged allegiance to Nero personally. Trained in the warrior clan’s fighting style meant to topple deity-like threats throughout history, Gen proved to be a very important asset within Nero’s inner circle. Gen had completely abandoned her clan and ultimately planned to eradicate them and its bloodline entirely. When she learns that her sister Rin had resurfaced, Gen vowed she would kill her sister in order in revenge for leaving the clan, sending the world deeper into hell, and for leaving her behind.
Maddox
One of Nero’s henchmen who work as his spy, often the bearer of bad news and ambassador to any remaining governments with the same greeting: “Submit to your new Emperor or face utter annihilation”. Despite her mystical and rather harmless appearance, Maddox is a skilled combatant who wields a set of katars and can blend into the shadows and teleport over long distances. At first, her appearance and demands for submission led to hostile encounters with leading governments, but Maddox would single-handedly take out multiple armed forces with ease. The ambassador is “the calm before the storm” and Maddox takes pleasure in introducing her Emperor to those who would live beneath their feet. She is responsible for recruiting Orion to their cause and manipulates him so he continues to serve Nero.
Xien
A warrior recruited by Nero through one of his tournaments to become part of his inner circle, the enigma known as Xien came from a near extinct race who wielded great knowledge in the dark arts and have become one with nature around them. Adorned with magically augmented bone armor and ox-like helmet to allow heightened senses and wielding a greatsword with ease, Xien’s ferocity in battle proved that he earned his rightful place as one of Nero’s henchmen.
Warpoz
A physical brute, he is recruited by Nero as they both share in exerting their power as they see fit. As a member of beings who live beyond the cosmos, Warpoz, in addition to his immense strength, possesses the ability to summon portals which warp the reality around them. A one man army in his own right, Warpoz is capable of decimating entire ground fleets. As Nero’s enforcer, Warpoz serves as Nero’s third-in-command after Vanth.
Vanth
A powerful sorceress whose ancestry dates back to the Amazons of Greece. She is knowledgeable in various types of magic, ranging from combat spells, necromancy, and healing. She also shows interest in Earth for its abundance in human souls and aura which would allow her to gather enough energy to alternate reality for her husband and king, Nero, as he saw fit. She utilizes Greek Fire spells the most, for its intense combative properties and her tall, physically built stature proves enough for her expertise in hand-to-hand combat. She revels in the conflict and wants nothing more than to fight alongside and pave the way for ultimate victory.
Nero
Main antagonist. A demonic king warlord from another dimension, he sets his sights on Earth for its resources and strategic location for his ever expansive empire. With millenia’s worth of combat experience and dark arts under his belt, Nero is the embodiment of power and death that befall all who stood in his path. Under his rather normal human appearance belies his true form: a fiery hellspawn with a horned, charcoal skull with magma-like eyes for a head, a body composed of darkened flesh reminiscent of sunspots adorn his godly physique. With his queen, Vanth, Nero plans to transform Earth into his likeness and continue his conquest.
