Gaia
Her father was one of many killed instantly by Camael, she is also one of the survivors of his massacre, with her right eye taken by Camael. She resolves to not only avenge her father’s death but also carry out his vision for a stronger, united War Island and in order to achieve that, she must unite the still displaced, fragmented peoples of the continent for a single cause: to defeat and drive back Camael and his warriors. At a very young age and even with guidance from Orro, she must deal with having a continent’s future on her shoulders and must do them proud. However, she is driven by rage over having lost her father and seeks to end Camael’s life herself.
Joshua
One of Gaia’s closest friends who served under Gilead when his efforts helped bring an end to the Great War. Having to hide feelings for his best friend though, especially during The Great War where it would have been most inconvenient, he finds an opportunity to ask Gaia’s hand in marriage and Gilead’s blessing. Unfortunately, Gilead is killed and Gaia is wounded, pushing back his plans. Nevertheless, Joshua cares for Gaia a great deal and strives to help her as much as he can and quickly joins her in her mission to take down Camael. Regardless of his romantic feelings towards her, he knows that being by her side during this conflict is what matters most.
A who served alongside Joshua under Gilead. Having grown tired of battle, he sets out for a life of peace and quiet. However, he struggles to adjust, having known combat all his life. Lucas realizes that peace can not be an option given the current circumstance, as conflict still looms over the horizon, and surmises that perhaps death is life’s greatest reward. He keeps this revelation to himself and readily accepts Gaia’s invitation to fight Camael. This battle may be his last, but Lucas will make sure his possible sacrifice is in the name of the land he loves most.
Orro
Veteran of great stature, lost his right arm in the initial conflict with Camael. Regardless of this disability, he is capable of massive Herculean strength. He serves as the strategic leader and beacon of hope during the island’s reconstruction. He assisted Ike in taking in innumerable orphans and teaching them life skills to help cultivate War Island’s future for peace. With his guidance, he assists Gaia in defeating and driving back Camael and his warriors.
Stone
A warrior construct made of stone and metal capable of controlling the winds and flight created by Gilead’s opposing forces. A golem-like being that was rendered motionless when his creator had scrubbed away the markings that gave them life. With War Island’s new leaders wiped out, this construct’s creator sought repentance and gave them to Gaia, hoping they would be a worthy ally in the conflict. Gaia and Orro readily accepted and forgave this once ostracized creator, an act that would later influence how they recruited other members in the coming conflict with Camael.
Nathaniel
Scythe wielder with knowledge in the dark arts. His faction and clan, Grave Arcana, have a history of conflict with neighboring nations and when peace set on War Island, they were outcast. When Camael initially invaded, Grave Arcana sat on the sidelines as he and his circle wreaked havoc, bittered by their defeat and ostracization. Though they planned to side with Camael, Grave Arcana were not spared Camael’s destruction and nearly wiped out their bloodline. Nathaniel, who was to become the next leader of Grave Arcana, had grown disillusioned with the practices of his clan and their role in The Great War and sought redemption by seeking out Gaia in order to aid her in her fight against Camael. Gaia and the others do not trust Nathaniel given his background, but with no options, they allow him to join their ranks.
Eden
A faerie, her race and Grave Arcana were among the last warring factions to negotiate peace, as the two had become intense rivals for generations. Sylvanna holds hatred for Grave Arcana and by association, Nathaniel, as the clan had killed her brother, Jed, during the war. When Nathaniel had initially approached Gaia looking for redemption, Sylvanna almost struck down the Grave Arcana heir out of anger. Orro stepped in and saved Nathaniel, and warned Sylvanna that while her anger is justified, her priorities are better placed targeting Camael and his army. Nathaniel gave his word that once the conflict was over, Sylvanna may take his life if that is what would resolve her anger and vengeance.
Scale
Amphibious reptilian who lost his family through a joint attack by Thundrax and Keres. He is recruited by Gaia who swears vengeance on the two elementals for having taken everything away from him. Scale, despite his amphibious background, is also capable of exhaling fire from his breath. He also possesses longer limbs and a heightened sense of smell and speed.
Killian
Warrior who dual wields curved swords and teleports in puffs of smoke in rapid succession. His people, who presided in carved caverns in the mountains, were almost wiped out entirely as a result of the Great War in the first few years as these passes served as main areas of conflict. His people remained largely neutral, some of which only entered the war as mercenaries, Killain being one of them. After the Great War, these mercenaries were among those ostracized by their own due them defying the clan’s neutrality, a state honored by both sides as the Great War progressed and the mercenaries fighting for money rather than honor. However, in doing so, Killian’s career as a mercenary exposed the irony and darker motives that began the Great War. Killian was approached by one of Gilead’s inner circle members to serve as a bodyguard, to the ire of the others. Unfortunately, in the parlay with Camael, Killain was not present because Gilead had forbidden a dishonorable person from being there. Because of this, Killian blamed himself for the death of his employer, personally approaching Gaia when she began gathering warriors. Killian now had something honorable worth fighting for: War Island’s ensuing survival and peace.
Elenor
A widower who lost her husband, an intelligent and innovative genius whose inventions were instrumental in helping rebuild the war-torn lands. Elenor’s father was one of many chosen in the parlay with Camael and unfortunately killed. Elenor was her father’s protege and would help develop a lot of the technology they created in rebuilding War Island. After hearing the news, Elenor vowed to avenge her father and outfitted herself in a mech suit with various weaponry meant to combat their superpowered enemies.
Ike
A young man who lost his family during the tail-end of the war, Ike was one of the many orphans left behind in the destruction. Though younger than most, Ike resolved to help create a better life for those like him who suffered. He became a model figure in his community, partnering up with Orro, a veteran, in starting farmland meant to grow and produce food for those in need. While successful for quite a while, their crops were quickly ravaged and destroyed as famine took hold, a deadly wind which also affected some of the orphans. These acts were caused by Rozz and Kaze, who spread famine throughout the surrounding lands as well. Ike, devastated by the innumerable losses, lets out a wailing war cry that unlocks his innate ability to encase his body in brass, becoming the shield he always wanted to be and protect those he cares for.
