This page covers everything you need to know about wax selection, service technique, and product use. It’s here to make sure that no matter who your client sees, they get consistent results, clear communication, and the safest, cleanest service possible.
At Rewaxation, we only use hard wax and sugaring paste for Brazilian services. These are our standard expectations for how a Brazilian should be performed — across the board, every time.
Always hold the skin tight to minimize pain, reduce hair breakage, and avoid bruising or irritation.
If you're unable to hold the skin yourself — or if you just want better results — ask the client to hold their skin tight.
Regardless of body size, there’s always a way to involve your client for a less painful and better service.
Don’t wax the full labia in one strip. Always break it down into smaller sections.
Never go straight across the top — the hair at the top grows in different directions, and the labia splits into two sides.
- Pulling across the top can cause hair breakage or skin tearing, especially near the top of the labia.
Remove the bottom labia hair first — the lower inch or so grows upward.
- If you go straight to the top section without clearing the bottom, the wax can catch or get stuck.
Always done side-lying — no knees to chest, no hands and knees, no stomach.
Clients should lie on their side with their upper knee towards their chest and hold their own cheek.
Apply a small muslin strip or soft wipe while the wax is still warm (not fully hardened).
When removing, always grip the wax itself, not just the fabric.
- If you only pull on the muslin or wipe, it’ll detach and leave the wax stuck behind.
Apply wax on the back of your hand when needed — this helps:
- Check the temperature before it goes on the client
- Use it as a pallet so you’re not rushing with a fully-loaded stick
Especially helpful in tight or sensitive areas — you can reposition the client with both hands, then scoop the right amount of wax from the back of your hand when you're ready.
This section breaks down what to apply before and after each wax or sugaring service at Rewaxation. Consistency matters — follow these protocols to ensure client comfort, reduce irritation, and deliver top-tier results.
We only use hard wax for Brazilian waxing services.
Pre-Wax Options:
You can use oil, powder, or both.
Estheticians have different preferences — some use only powder, some only oil, some use both together.
If you’re using oil:
Use a very small amount — just enough to create a light sheen.
Too much oil prevents wax from sticking — it’ll just roll off.
Apply evenly — don’t overdo it.
If you’re using powder:
Powder helps control moisture and can be layered on top of oil.
Use especially for sweaty clients or humid days.
Post-Wax Protocol:
Always use calming lotion after every Brazilian.
Apply the lotion during the cleanup phase — while tweezing or waiting for strips to dry.
Put it on a soft wipe ahead of time so it’s ready.
Don’t wait until the very end — applying it while tweezing or checking for stray hairs feels more natural and less invasive.
🧊 Cooling towels are required at the end of every Brazilian service.
- Make them ahead of time.
- You can use essential oils if you’d like.
- Offer to place it on the client or hand it to them — it should be consistent across all estheticians.
- Cooling towels are also great to offer after full-face waxes.
Pre-Sugar:
No oil. Sugar will roll off the skin and result in poor performance.
Use powder only.
If needed, use witch hazel or pre-wax cleanser, but not required — clients already wipe down beforehand.
Apply powder evenly — don’t forget the inner outer labia (that area retains moisture).
Keep a soft wipe with powder nearby in case you need to touch up mid-service.
Post-Sugar:
Use the same calming lotion as with hard wax.
Apply it the same way — on a soft wipe, while tweezing or wrapping up the service.
Pre-Wax:
We primarily use powder.
Some estheticians prefer a tiny amount of oil first, then powder — personal preference.
Wax still needs to grip — so go light on oil and make sure the powder barrier is solid.
Post-Wax:
Use oil to remove any sticky residue or leftover wax.
After cleaning, always follow up with calming lotion — it feels cleaner and helps complete the service.
We use both hard and soft wax on the face, depending on the area and your comfort.
Pre-Wax:
Use either oil or powder, based on skin type and personal preference.
Post-Wax:
Always apply hydrocortisone cream.
Tell the client what you’re using:
> “I’m going to apply a little hydrocortisone — it helps reduce bumps or irritation.”
If a client has histamine reactions (bumps, hives), recommend taking an antihistamine before or after next time.
- Especially helpful for male chest waxing, where reactions are common.
This guide outlines which type of wax or sugaring to use for each service offered at Rewaxation. Sticking to these standards helps ensure consistency across estheticians and gives clients the results they expect.
Used for smaller, more sensitive areas or areas that benefit from more precise application and less irritation.

⚠️ Do not switch to hard wax for these areas unless it’s specifically noted as optional.
Hard wax doesn't grip fine hair well, takes too long and wastes product on large areas.
Sugaring is approved for all the areas listed above in Hard Wax and Soft Wax categories. Use it based on client request and esthetician training.

✅ Consistency tip: Always ask clients what they’ve used before and how their skin responded. Match method to skin type and hair texture.
We are a no-trimming salon — we do not trim pubic hair at all.
It is unsanitary. There’s no way that we can get all of the hair off of the bed and the floors, and so we do not trim hair.
Because we use hard wax, it really isn’t necessary to trim hair.
Longer hair can be a little more uncomfortable with sugaring, so if clients are really grown out, sometimes we’ll recommend they do hard wax just to get a clean slate that first time and then switch over to sugaring the second and thereafter.
But we can still do sugaring with long hair, so estheticians need to be able to wax & sugar with very long hair.
The only time we’ll ever do any trimming is:
- On brows if you find that it’s necessary
- Or if someone is leaving a strip or triangle and you are literally able to hold the hair — pinch the hair in your hand — and then trim it and immediately throw it in the trash.
That tiny bit is allowed. But that is the only trimming that we allow in the salon.
