A résumé is your opportunity to introduce yourself, your skills and your style to an employer.
Think of a résumé as a one-page showcase for all the skills you love to use and all the qualities that make you a great team player.
Good résumés get you interviews. They also can get you considered for jobs that are outside of your experience.
If possible, enlist help. We all benefit from others' points of view and expertise. Luckily, COTS clients have lots of free resources at their fingertips.
COTS Client Enrichment Services can match you with a volunteer to help you draft your résumé. Many times, the program can provide a volunteer who understands the field in which you want to work. You can ask your case manager for a referral.
The Sonoma County Library offers a Job and Career Accelerator, including tools to create a résumé.
Sonoma County Job Link offers an online workshop called "Résumés That Work." These workshops are usually very small, and you can ask lots of questions and get personal attention. At the end, JobLink provides you with lots of templates and samples.
