If you are in recovery, you may be considering a Sober Living Environment (SLE). Some people find an SLE to be helpful in their recovery and an affordable means of finding housing.
SLEs are usually shared homes in which all residents agree to pursue sobriety and in which all residents pay a monthly fee. A very important thing to know about SLEs is that residents are not considered “tenants” and cannot rely on protections from landlord-tenant laws. There is little government oversight of SLEs.
If your healthcare coverage comes from Medi-Cal and you are a CalAIM participant, you may be eligible for three to six months of no-cost housing in Hammock Homes Sober Living homes. Please speak to your Care Manager about a referral.
There are many other sober living opportunities. COTS cannot vouch for the management of any of the SLEs listed here. Click here for some information about how to screen SLEs.
