Assistance from the Chronicle Season of Sharing Fund is available to low-to-moderate income families with dependent children, senior citizens (55+), disabled individuals, veterans, victims of domestic violence, pregnant women in their 2nd or 3rd trimester, and transitioning emancipated foster youth who have a critical need and who reside in the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, or Sonoma.
Housing Assistance and Critical Family Needs assistance is provided in the form of grants that are paid directly to the supplier of services, such as a landlord. Applicants do not receive direct grants.
If you are eligible, ask your case manager for referral to the program. The program does not accept application from individuals. You have to work with a case manager.
Talk to your COTS case manager to see if you are eligible to enroll in Cal Aim, a program of MediCal that can help with housing search, moving expenses and services to help you settle in to your new place.
The Landlord Recruitment Initiative may be able to help you with your deposit and moving costs. They can also help you look for housing. Ask you Care Manager for a referral.
