Affordable housing communities are complexes where some or all the units are available only to low-income people. In Sonoma County, there are over 6,000 units in affordable housing communities.
Rents can vary widely, depending on income, unit size and family size.
Several organizations build and manage these communities, and there are significant differences among the organizations. Below, you’ll find information about all-ages communities. To learn about senior communities, visit Housing for Seniors.
With dozens of communities and over 2800 units, Burbank is the largest provider of affordable housing in Sonoma County.
Each property runs a separate wait list. Some properties serve specific groups of people—for example, seniors, farm workers, transition-aged youth.
The easiest way to apply is to complete a pre-application (pdf) and email it as an attachment to all the open waitlists of interest. You can check open waitlists at burbankhousing.org or check our Open Affordable Housing Waitlists.
You can also go burbankhousing.org and apply to properties one-at-a-time through the website.
Some of the properties for seniors receive funding from the USDA and require a more detailed pre-application.
