The emergency reactor shutdown protocol is the automated and primary system in place to avert a thermal runaway and prevent the destruction of the Dark Matter Reactor. When a thermal runaway is detected, a two-minute shutdown window initiates. During this time, Reactor Operations Personnel are required to initiate a reactor shutdown attempt before evacuating. This policy serves both to deter any potential sabotage of the DMR and to emphasize the crucial role this protocol plays in safeguarding a research facility valued at nearly a trillion dollars.
For the shutdown protocol to activate, the following must be met:
Preservation of all six power lasers, which is subject to chance and beyond manual control.
Maintenance of the EFSS primary water tank at or above 70% capacity.
Ensuring that the reactor temperature remains below 3000K.
Input of the shutdown code, activation of keys, and pressing of the shutdown button.
If all these parameters are successfully met, the shutdown process is highly likely to succeed. However, it's essential to acknowledge that there exists a minimal probability that the entire shutdown attempt may be bypassed upon activation, leading to an instantaneous code black situation, resulting in the "???" badge being given to everyone on the server.
Shutdown Activation Console
The Shutdown Code
When the Shutdown Window opens, the Shift Manager console screen should display the code. If the code is not displayed, it may indicate one of two situations: either the console screen has not caught up with the system, or the code has been removed and is in the process of being replaced. In such cases, the code should be obtainable within the facility, although its specific location may vary. Additionally if the shutdown code is not within the system the FAAS engineers will attempt to brute force the code by salvaging what they can of the FAAS systems to begin testing as many combinations as they can in the event that this process is successful a badge will be awarded to everyone in the server called "the machine that beat the man"

The Emergency Fire Suppression System (EFSS)
The Emergency Fire Suppression System, known as EFSS, is an emergency cooling system designed to maintain the safety of the facility. This system operates by storing cold water in supply tanks until needed. When activated, the water is discharged over the Dark Matter Reactor through a sprinkler system. The primary purpose of the EFSS is to play a crucial role in the Phase 1 shutdown protocol, requiring that the primary codex water tanks remain at or above 70% capacity for a successful shutdown. Additionally, the EFSS can be manually initiated by corporate+. It's important to note that refilling the primary water tanks is a time-consuming process, so it is advisable to use the EFSS only in genuine emergencies.
Temperature and Power Lasers
In addition to the previously detailed parameters, two additional requirements must be met for a successful shutdown. Firstly, it is essential that all power lasers remain intact when the shutdown system is activated. This condition is beyond control and purely reliant on chance. Secondly, the temperature must be maintained below 3000°K.
During Phase 1 of a meltdown, the standard cooling systems function identically, so they should be operated as usual. It's crucial to note that activating the fire suppression system during a Phase 1 meltdown will render the Phase 1 Shutdown Protocol entirely ineffective, as it depends on the EFSS being maintained above 70%, as discussed earlier.

The "Reactor Shutdown" badge is given to everyone on a server in which the Emergency Combustion Stall Protocol is successfully engaged, as well as the quest "Save the nuclear industry" being awarded.
The ??? badge is a rare event in which upon activating the phase 1 shutdown system, the whole process is completely skipped and an instant code black is issued. If this occurs, this badge is awarded to everyone on the server at the time of the event. Keep in mind this is very rare and cannot be outwardly caused.
