Developed for testing and maintaining Winlink operating skills among operators around the island, we also welcome participation from HAMs abroad. HAMs are required to use the "Winlink Check In template" to enter the corresponding information (addresee is the tactical address EMCOMRUM). A question of the week available in the website is answered in the "Comments" section of the template. HAMs can use any RMS node or Telnet to send their message within the exercise time frame (00:00-24:00 AST).
Send a Winlink message to K8EAF any time on Wednesday. Just a one line with callsign, first name, city, county, state and via what mode (VHF, UHF, HF or Telnet. Because we want operators to get started using Winlink, the Telnet check-ins are excepted. Enter my callsign in the "To" field (K8EAF). Subject field "OH Winlink Net Check-in". In the body field enter callsign, first name, city, county, state and via what mode. See example in my signature line below. All check-ins will be acknowledged, and a complete roster will be sent later in the week. NOTE: I will accept the ICS213 forms and the new Winlink Check-in form found in the General Forms folder.
Purpose: To help promote the use of Winlink and the various facets and functions of the program. Eligibility: Open primarily to those states that border any of the Great Lakes. Those states being Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York and the Canadian province of Ontario. However, those wishing to check in from other states or provinces anywhere are welcomed to participate. Open to anyone with a valid ham radio license for the band you are sending your message out. Net Check-In Process: Send either a basic plain text message or use any of the forms templates available of your choosing that will allow you to include the following line of text in the body of the message or in some spot on the form you choose to send: FIRST NAME, CALLSIGN, CITY, COUNTY, STATE, COUNTRY An example of my checkin might be: RYAN, KB8RCR, REMUS, MECOSTA, MICHIGAN, USA. Also, please put the letters GLAWN and the date of the net in the subject line.
Session Type: Messages will be accepted via VARA P2P (frequency below) or may be posted to an RMS gateway of your choice and protocol for pickup. Please make sure your check in follows the following format in the message body: K4MIC, MIKE, SUGAR GROVE, PENDLETON, WV (VHF, HF, or P2P) There are evening HF VARA/ARDOP P2P session for anyone who wants to send me their check in directly. The session will be held on 3583 kHz (Center) 3581.5 kHz (Dial). From 6 to 7 I will be taking VARA P2P check ins, followed by ARDOP P2P check ins from 7 to 8. The VARA session will be full throttle, however the ARDOP session will be limited to 1000 kHz bandwidth to be respectful to the OLIVIA net that always shows up during the second hour. Each Wednesday send a check in to KN6CEI using that weeks assignment. Standard check in messages are formatted as: CALLSIGN, FIRST NAME, CITY, COUNTY, STATE, BAND USED (HF, FM, Telnet).

your power source (commercial, battery, generator, solar etc.)
The Northern California WinLink net welcomes check-ins from Sunday afternoon through Thursday evening each week and even outside of those days without net control managers complaining too much - heck, we all like to run up the numbers! :-) ... no geographical restrictions and about 10% of each week's check-ins come from outside of the region.

We are a group of roughly 1500 Amateur Radio Operators ("Hams") working together (virtually and in-person) to demonstrate, exercise and improve our procedures to pass Emergency Communications message traffic. We also seek to acquire new skills and capabilities. Our operators are members of an array of Ham Radio emergency communications groups, but members with no affiliation to any group are also welcome.

Participation
All check-in messages are to be sent to J73W, the callsign assigned to Waitukubuli Amateur Radio Association. Check-ins may be submitted anytime between 0000 and 2359 Eastern Caribbean time each Wednesday. The use of Winlink Express client software is preferred. Messages may be sent by accessing any RMS station (Winlink gateway) that the participant can reach. These are referred to as “RMS Check-ins.” Checkins can be in two formats:

The plain message format for a “Standard Check-in” is as follows:

The format of the message body is important because it is copied and pasted directly into the net roster, which is posted on our website. (see “Net Results,” below).
Check-ins using the Winlink Check-in form is also accepted. The Winlink Check-in form can be found under General Forms in the Standard Template manager. When using the form, click on the “Setup” button and enter “Waitukubuli Amateur Radio Association Winlink Wednesday”, then proceed to fill the form providing the appropriate information. Please note that check-ins, where the mode is not specified, will be categorized as “TELNET”.
