  Eligible customers receive a monthly allowance of electricity (and sometimes natural gas) at their utility's lowest rate, in addition to their standard baseline allotment.

  This additional energy is provided at the lowest rate, helping to reduce the overall cost of running medical equipment. 

• Qualifying Conditions:
  Eligibility typically requires a medical practitioner's certification that the customer or a household member requires life-supporting medical equipment or has a qualifying medical condition, such as multiple sclerosis, a life-threatening illness, paraplegia, or quadriplegia.

• Advanced PSPS Notifications:
  Many programs also provide advanced notifications before Public Safety Power Shut-off (PSPS) events, allowing eligible customers to prepare their medical equipment for potential power outages.

  Some programs require periodic recertification from a medical practitioner to ensure continued eligibility.
